I think Marios has some new gear-knobs, sure I recall them in a display cabinet there

image.jpghad a go all on my own and very pleased with the results, though what a pain! It took three hours of scratching and scraping, I found acetone was helpful too, never want to do it again! So now I can't get enough weight behind me to snap the central console back into place, any advice?

Careful how you go with the centre piece. There's a section of wiring loom that runs more or less behind the right hand heater (direction) dial which can help to prevent the panel clipping back in properly.

I've changed to centre panel on mine for CF too. I think a carbon gear knob would finish the job without looking too far over the top. I've also fitted a Blaupunkt head unit in place of the original Becker purely because it can stream via BT, has built in usb/card reader and hands free. The Becker does sound ok though, but the six pack in the boot jumps like a good 'un on bumpy roads.

Ian I had same problem. Just push it into place and make sure the two screws are in place. There should be enough force to keep it in place...

Not keen on the wooden look. Looks like a cheap piece of ply. Carbon dipping it would be an imporvement.

To get it out is easy...

Radio out
2 tiny screws going sideways out
Pull wooden bit out.

Lol... Hehe, I feel the same about the look, however, it is solid wood and original, which I like the idea of... I might stain it sometime. Getting it out was easy, I can't get it back in though!

You might have to get the radio out a bit to fit the console in, then slot the radio back in, not much space and a bit of wiring-loom to navigate past..!!

Hello all,

I know this is an old thread, but I just did all the knobs, switches and vents and shrouds on my 3200GT. A real pain, but should have done them a lot earlier!

This thread, gave me the inspiration to tackle it myself. I found that "Goof Off" worked the best for me. I also used "Goo Gone" in the more sensitive spots(like where the symbols and decals on the switches were).

I removed all the parts (about 25 of them), with the exception of the 2 centre front vents). It took about 12 hours to complete over a one week period.............looks heaps better and now useable without getting black smudges over fingers, clothes and leather interior!

Just as a warning..........be careful if trying to remove the a/c control dials from the instrument cluster. If trying to pry them off from the front, you will most likely break the plastic tabs holding them onto the base unit, and maybe loose the tiny spring inside the dial. I broke 2 tabs and had to glue them back in place. It's best to remove the whole instrument cluster from the centre console, then remove the individual buttons/dials from the rear of the control units.

Sounds good, any photos of the finished task.
