Anyone ever tried to restore seats themselves?
I have an old Volvo V40 with leather seats that are quite worn by now.
I'm being quoted 1000€ for a full leather replacement or 500€ to have the current one restored

Seems a lot of money for a car that is not worth more than 4000€ so I was wondering if I could do it myself with one of those leather restore kits out there.

I used the Gliptone products to very good effect on my 3200, easy to follow instructions and good value for money when you see the results

I tried doin it myself but it didn't last long and didn't look great, colour match wasn't good & seat was sticky to sit in. I used a kit I got from woollies, best leave it to experts.

I've used Wollies on the worn bolster and side cushion. Great finish. Not *quite* the same black, but unless you *know* you couldn't tell.

Seems to be lasting OK as well. On the whole, I'd be happy to use it again

May be a little bit under the seat. But in the 4200 it is only the seat faces, door handles, handbrake shroud and dashboard 'T'' area that are really leather...rest is PVC.

I got a sample from under the arm rest in the rear, loads of leather dangling about there.

Mark , sorry to keep pestering you but as you are aware i have deposited the money for the Brake discs with you , do i have to add my name to the latest list of members who have applied for replacement discs currently awaiting delivery?
Also if you recall(from earlier E mails) I was willing to pay for one of the three sets that you had retained from the original batch and were selling @ £300 if that option is still available I am willing to send you the remainder in order to secure one of the sets

Nick I get on really well with the Woolies kit.

I think the colour didnt match quite cause I got the sample from beneath the arm rest so it was new, whereas the rest of the interior is a little bleached by sunlight? I think my seat was too far gone when I did it and it was the first time I'd used the kit. I found the process pretty simple but where I have a contrasting piping it involved a bit of masking up.

im just about to order some Woolies, where is the best place to remove a colour sample of leather to send to them ?

I already told you where, take the rear armrest out and remove the bulkhead panel then you can trim a bit from the reverse side.

I took my 4200 seats out this weekend and refurbished the worn leather with the Woolies colour matched kit . They look brilliant . although light grey is a bit harder to cover up marks that black i would say .
