There's lots of people out there who hanker over those lights and especially if its an AC, it looks stunning on the advert, as does your AC Pete.

My observation....sort the handbrake out!

Nice example though, worth £20k, I don't think so, you can get an early GS for around that money.

He will struggle to sell it for that, especially this time of year. But you never know, there are still enough eejits and rich people out there to sell anything.

Mileage is good, but that's a whopping price for a 2001 GT. Makes me wonder if i should sell my AC for £30K??

Now come on dem, we should be saying higher, not lower, how's about putting ours up for £30K and say that if they are not sold in a week, the price goes up a thousand per week until they are, now that should get some brains working, "SPECIAL OFFER"

Even at that price, I think it is too strong.
It has only had 3 services and has some small areas of rust which are being treated.
The search for the perfect 3200 continues for me.

Three services for a 2001 car – that's not great, whatever the mileage! Cambelt also needs to have been done every 3 years, regardless (…I learnt the hard way having just suffered a cambelt failure on my Audi A4 due to age not miles....was booked in for the following week....!).

Body rust is also quite hard to get rid of permanently unless the metal is cut out…none of my 3200s have had any bodywork rust so I think there are enough around to avoid buying one with rusty bits. It does look a nice car though – I loved the understated look of my Grigio Alfieri one.

No doubt that the cambelt can cause issues with age and mileage, this is one of the reasons why I have budgeted for a major overhaul to avoid most spontaneous issues. I also agree with you as to the body rust, the car that I will end up buying, will be with me for a very long time indeed and so it is most likely that any previous rust issues will reappear.

I have been offered a very nice, rare coloured 3200 (1 of 2) but that car is missing 2 years of servicing and has had 6 owners. I just cannot bring myself to accept a car any less than perfect even if it is priced accordingly. What are your thoughts on the high amount of owners?

The cambelt change isn’t actually massively expensive – perhaps £400 on top of a service. The camchain service is typically £1200+, but not due til 68k miles.

Re number of owners, it’s been discussed on here and some are quite happy with a high number of owners because it's a ‘sports’ car. I don’t personally subscribe to this as much for a 3200/4200 as I would for other sports cars, because they’re actually relatively (!) practical….I can imagine people either tiring of other cars quicker or lifestyle choices necessitating a change (e.g. kids!) … Elises, F360s, TVR T350T etc etc require much more of a compromise and therefore might change hands more frequently.

Have to take every car on its merits, but there is a bit of variation between individual 3200s, and I tend to think there’s a good chance that cars with fewer owners have been less problematic and/or have had owners that can afford to maintain them as they should be! I would therefore generally be more wary of ones that have had a lot of owners.

Done Deal Dem!!!

Just to enlighten the thread a bit, I have just got our 3200 back from Autoshield in Manchester. I asked Marios to check everything, service it and fit the new discs all round, this is the result:

NEW SPARK PLUGS, 2 x KNOCK SENSORS, CAMBELT, CAMBELT TENSIONER, AIR FILTERS, SUMP WASHER, ANTI-FREEZE, INLET MANIFOLD GASKETS, WIPER BLADES, BRAKE CLEANER, REPLACED MISSING INLET DUCTS WITH USED ITEMS, FIT MY OWN DISCS, OIL & LUBRICANTS, PLUS LABOUR. TOTAL INCLUDING VAT = £1,556.

This was a tad more than I had expected, but I wanted it perfect for our trip to Monaco. I asked Marios to make sure of everything and he did. The car now is performing exceptionally well, accelerates and brakes better than ever. I think it is well worth looking after a car like these to the very best of your ability, good care will give good life, performance to be enjoyed and to be admired by others, what more can you ask for?
