I have no doubt that the purists will be offended by the idea but does anyone know if there is a quickshift / uprated option for the gearstick in a manual 3200?

Was thinking the same - will do some research elsewhere

Lets not forget the old 6 speed Getrag gearboxes that Maserati used in the 3200GT were also found in high end BMW and Merc's up to the late 1990's and beyond...

As they were very well engineered, BMW also used them in race cars of the period..

Regarding altering the standard cable installation on a 3200GT to make it seem more direct ;)....once warmed up, although fairly mechanical there a lovely old school manual gearbox!

Thanks for the reply.

I agree the gearbox works great and I have always been happy with it (manual was certainly the right choice for me).

The thing that prompted the question / thought is that I have been doing a few things to the capri over the last week, which has a quickshit that really is a real joy to use.

They are very good at what they do and also crackers for trying it...

Good link, thanks. I can see why they would do that with the Mini gearbox.

They are pretty impressive with the fabrication, fitting a Celica GT4 drive train into a mini has taken the odd compromise!

Apparently it is going to be on display at Goodwood, whether it's finished or not.

I am pretty sure that this 3200 is running a shortshift/quickshift lever.

Personally I think the throttle response on a 3200 would be my first port of call, even with the contactless options fitted both ends I find it pretty unresponsive, my feeling is that fitting cables would fix this, I guess the difficulty arises in getting the fuel / air mix as fars ECUs are concerned.
Trouble with these mods is we are getting into max power territory, if I wanted that I'd buy a Subaru or a Mitsubishi.....

Firstly, I know the car is a "sporty GT" rather than out an out sports or race car but was just wondering if there was an option to improve the gear change.
Secondly I don't totally agree that modifying a car is automatically wrong, after all we all have diff views etc. and as such it doesn't mean it's going all "max power" besides all cars are somewhat compromised either by cost, market etc.

I personally would rather keep any mods to being fairly discreet, valid and fairly easy to return to standard if required, but as I say we all have diff ideas as much as I am not keen on big body kits etc on cars it seems equally (or more) strange when people buy cars not to use for fear of upping the mileage!

Anyway it seems there is nothing obvious although obviously I am sure something could be sorted.
