This morning I drove the 3200gt auto out of parking lot slowly, then stopped behind another car for about 5 seconds, gear in D. When the road in front opened up i release the brake and step on the paddle, nothing happened.
The rev went up but the car didnt move at all. It felt like the gear was put into N mode but i am sure i didnt touch it.
I quickly cycled to P then back to D, this time it moved. Scanned for error by blue tooth adapter it only shows p0700, which is always there even after reset.
For the rest of the day i feel the car reacts differently, feel hesitation on take off, and not as powerful.:frusty5::frusty5:
Any ideas please? I was about to change the gear box fluid but my indy advised against it because he said he doesnt know how much fluid to put in.

ok first let me say I am not sure what you have going on there, but... P700 is a transmission control failure, so i suspect this is linked to your problem, this is the car telling you what's up. if you have not changed the transmission fluid and the filter in a while and especially if you have not checked the fluid level then I suggest you do all of this. The fluid and filter are not expensive. the gearbox is quite sensitive to both the fluid level and the filter condition. If the car persists in not being in gear when you put the gear level in the drive position you may need to have a look at the position sensor which is outside and under the car so gets affected by the weather and so can be troublesome. I think the fluid is Tutela G1/A the hand book lists it, or if you search here you will find plenty threads on fluids. level is up to the filler with the engine running. i think the process is fill cold until it come out of the filler (which is pretty hard to get at I bought a small pump for filling the gearbox) then run the engine on a flat surface and fill again with the engine idling until it pours out of the filler. Close filler and its done. removing the sump pan and replacing the filter is pretty straight forward. good luck.

Have you tried just resetting the whole thing and going for another drive?

These cars do have their issues and then it goes away forever

I have restarted and the problem never appear again. Anyway i think it's prudent to change the gearbox oil, it's more than 13 years old by now. Service manual stated 4 liter of fluid, is it about right?

yes fluid volume is not huge, 4 liters probably do it. and i do agree these cars do occasionally just throw wobblys and then run fine. However I must say the gearbox is pretty good. I seem to remember my car threw up some gearbox errors before I changed the filter and oil and it was much better after. its quite sensitive to oil level too.
