3200 headling

Has anyone removed the headlining on a 3200 and if yes was it easy to do ? The headlining of my 3200 is sagging badly and I can see that the foam backing of the existing fabric is disintegrating; as the fabric is stuck to the roof lining it should be relatively simple to remove it and glue a new lining.

I have managed to remove the headlining and contrary to write ups on some other sites is can easily be done without having to remove any seats, C pillar covers or parcel shelves. To completely remove the headlining board loosening of the C pillar covers is sufficient to get the board out but anyone removing it should be aware that there are two push in clips about two or three inches in from the rear of the headlining and about 8 inches in from each side that cannot be seen. To be honest one of the most difficult parts of the process was cleaning up all of the sticky orange foam that seems to get everywhere.

You need to use the right glue. Done a couple with simple carpet spray contact adhesive and it fell down again over the summer. Get the right glue and it’s a time consuming but DIY doable.

The seats do not need to come out but I use them to rest the headlining on the headrests then lower them and out the front door, window down and fully open.

I have the heading out and removing the sticky foam was a pig of a job. I have noticed that the leather on the C pilar covers has lifted and I intend to get them re covered, I have them loose but something behind the seats seems to be holding them in, any idea what at the back needs to come out to get to whatever is holding them in ?

I have had the headlining replaced at a trimmers for £150 and they did a very nice job. In hindsight their £250 quote for doing the whole job start to finish now seems to have been a bargain and one that I should have taken them up on. To my annoyance having taken the parcel shelf out during this work in order to re fix the leather by the rear brake light I forgot to clean the window in that area so still have spots and dead flies on the glass but that's for another day now.
