Hi All

Thanks. Sorry for the late reply. Only just seen the replies. Great advice thanks. I will give it a go. I have ordered the 3M product but more than happy not to have to go this way. Loz if I mess it up I will contact you for those spares if you want to find a home for them.

Many thanks
Paul

Headlight cover repair using 3M kit

Hi All. Remember this post on my peeled headlight cover? Earlier pix on this thread of peeled UV headlight film ( 22nd Aug ) showing the problem. I have today managed to be brave and take an electric drill with the brilliant 3M headlight repair kit to my car. Attached two pdf documents from supplier describe the process better than I can showing how to do it. Very pleased with result. In fact I may now have to give the other one a go to match ! One side of my brain was telling me " What the **** are you doing with that drill and sander- -are you mad?" The other half ( brain ) said do it. All went well. Follow the Instructions and you will be pleased. Thanks 3M and SM for advice.

I know exactly what you mean , when your head knows that what you are about to potentialy ruin is £6/700's to replace , very easy to get the shakes hahahaha 3/4 times now i have cut the whole lense cover off these headlights so they can be resprayed and then with the correct sealant glued them back on , nerve racking to say the least , but if wel masked up and a sharp surgical circular saw each time has gone like clockwork............kudos to you Paul

Thanks Loz

Is that how they come off ?

Paul

Obviously they are not meant to come off or be interchangeable , so if your after one the manufacturers idea was that you had to buy new at £ 800 odd a few years back , but there always seemed to be one on Ebay but rarely the colour one needed , on closer inspection i found that with the right tool basically a surgical saw one could cut through the sealant and remove the lense cover , then your able to spray the reflector the colour of your car to match , ccertainly saved me good few hundred ££££s
