I feel a biff to be honest Phil, I was in there yesterday but only checked the main fuse bank. The only saving grace is if anyone else has this soon the search will throw up a result with a fix!

Don't feel a biff, you didn't know there were two fuses! It seems one protecting the main LCU and one for key on?

Anyway, main thing is that it is fixed and also as you say if it happens again it is well documented on here. Got to love these forums for the help and info which let's face it makes running these cars actually possible!

I had a look at the forums for realistic running costs and tips (like the starter, an expensive part if bought from Maserati being the same part as used in many Alfas and Lancia's and actually costs about £150) it helped me decide that we as normal working people could actually afford to run a 3200. So far we have been lucky and the car has been very reliable. It burst a coolant union at the back of the engine which was a £300 fix that luckily was covered by my AA breakdown insurance. The forums are a god send and really help with the communication of knowledge which in turn keeps the running costs down.

Celebrated too soon, it blew the fuse again last night. It must be shorting to earth somewhere

not sure if this helps, but when i removed the front bumper on my car the wiring to the fog lights was very badly corroded, i think they get a bit of splash off the front wheels. The down side to this tip is that these connectors are so inaccessible i didn't know they existed until i had the bumper off!!! I think there is a single small bolt that holds the fog light in and if you get that out (yes you need magic pixies to get that out) the fog light slides forward and you can get at the wiring behind. Same goes for the headlight, it slides forward (i think) and you can see the fog lights and wiring once these are out.

If it's started since it's been valeted, chances are it's water ingress somewhere if they hosed off the outside. I think I read somewhere that if the pollen filter gets blocked water finds a way into the fuse box area. Other than that, I think I'd start by inspecting the lamp units at the front, particularly the indicator/fog lamp unit. Tricky beggars to get out, though. Inner arch liner has a panel that need to be removed first. One bolt on the fog lamp assy, three on the headlamp.

i MIGHT BE INCLINED TO TAKE HER FOR A FAST HIGH SPEED DRIVE SOMEWHERE, see if the wind will dry her out, then tray another fuse..?? We did a bulk buy on some LED fuses a while back, they illuminate when blowwn so make it dead easy to see any that have gone, might do another buy again soon..!!

I think you might have a point Trev, I have noticed the car fogging up more than it should and was going to check the cabin filter to see if it was waterlogged (until I found out where it is and that you have to remove the windscreen wipers to remove the scuttle tray to remove the cabin filter ) but as service time is looming I decided to add it to the list of minor fixes to get sorted then. WRONG! I'll have to get it out and inspect / dry it when I next get chance.

Once again thank you to everybody that is still taking the time to assist with this.

You can drain the pollen filter box, which is pretty useful, especially as if it is full right now. The details are in the how too.

The pollen filter job is not too scary, be careful when you pop the buttons on the plastic fairing but the rest is pretty straight forward.

Just a quick update for all of you that gave your time to help... I was going to take the bike to work again today but decided there was too much ice so I took the girlfriends car. A couple of days sat plus a good dry run in the sun and the problem has gone. I'm convinced now that it was just a case of an over enthusiastic application of the pressure washer that caused water ingress into the passenger footwell fuse bay. I still intend to at least inspect if not replace the cabin pollen filter at the weekend. Does anyone know of a mod that can be done to prevent this?

Cutting the anti-block end off the drain pipe may help.

Check that the drain areas from the skuttle plate in front of the windscreen are clear of leaves, these can block the drain..??
