Hi all, been doing some work on the grille of the 3200, it having a nasty dent in the top above the trident (not me BTW!).

After quite a few Father Ted moments later I have a nearly straight grille. Came out quite well I thought, although some of the chrome has suffered, which was inevitable really.

So now I need to have it refinished, are there any alternatives to having it rechromed people have tried and been happy with?
Thanks
Loz

I'm not aware of anything paint wise that looks up to the job. Rechroming is probably best as the chrome is very thin to start with on those.

i got my grill re-chromed and it was worth it, i did the trident at the same time and it was night and day from what it was before.

My grill didn't want re-chroming, but I wanted a different look, so plasti-dipped it!

Thanks all, That look's brilliant, especially with the black wheel's, they set the car off, wouldn't look so good on Verde Mistral I don't think, going to put some feelers out for re-chroming I think .

masgrill.jpg This was my grille after re-chroming, I cant remember the company that did it, it was 7 or 8 years ago so they might not be around anymore, i am sure it was classic car re-chrome or some thing relating to classic car restoration. I removed the mesh grill and spray painted it with plasti-kote or simonize tough black and its been pretty good ever since.

Thanks, I've stripped the grille down to its component parts, ordered all stainless rivnuts etc, the mesh is away being powder coated as we speak, and I will be taking the grille down to Birmingham on Wednesday for rechroming.

awesome work.

When you bear in mind that a new grille is currently going on ebay for £1500, what you've achieved here is great.
