I met a couple of guys at Race Retro last weekend who have a roll bar manufacturing company up in Harrogate

So far I sent them a couple of photos of a 3200 front bar, they got back saying It looks like they could make one, but could I sent them a pattern for some measurement's

Before I get that far is there anyone out there interested? as I don't want to waste my time or there's if there's no interest

By the way, the larger AC mounting blocks and clamps are still available to order from the factory!

ARB mounts and blocks are pretty universal, I'm sure you could match to any number of Fiat/Alfa ones, with the measurements from an OEM set. Great work on getting ARB's re-manufactured. Would they take on sub-frames?

Would be fantastic if there was another (cheaper) option to the adjustable FD ARBs for the 4200/GS as well

They work mostly with race car stuff where the ARB's are tubular, lots lighter and have an adjustable vane on one end to adjust the stiffness with a cable attachment

What's a 4200 front ARB look like, does it have any difficult to reproduce bends

It has a few bends in it, but I too would be very interested in an adjustable alternative. Would be happy to use mine as a template.

I would be interested too, but the rear is a real pain to remove (this is on a 4200 /GS not sure about a 3200), requires the rear sub-frame a be lowered.

Yes the rear ARB on the 3200 is a real pain as I have just discovered trying to replace my ARB bushes. Currently in the process of lowering sub-frame to get to the rear clamp bolts - the front clamp bolts are possible in situ. Having said that I believe the AC has the same rear ARB as standard and the front is relatively straightforward to replace.

Ok guys, there seems to be only three 3200 owners so far who are interested in a uprated front ARB

This is the easiest and most noticeable "handling wise" mod you can do to a standard 3200

Is there anyone else out there who may also be interested.. as its just not worth setting up the machinery and creating a drawing just for 3 anti roll bars!

I'll leave it till the end of the week

Hi Dave,

I'm still unsure as I don't have much data to go on.

Interest will generally depend on price vs benefit. It's not that I wouldn't be interested, just that I don't know that I will be for sure. For example: if we estimate that we're talking £200 for the bar and 4 hours to fit then we still need to know the benefit. My understanding is that there will be an easily noticeable improvement in cornering grip with no deterioration in ride quality. (I've no idea whether this example is realistic or not - but if it is, it would mean I'm interested!)

In reality of course we can't be absolutely certain about price, time, or benefit (without a test drive.) However, some of us have already done this mod and can give us all a better idea of these three variables. Feel free to chip in guys.

If three takers is not enough to make it worthwhile, then the project is off. There is then no reason to limit the time for others to make up their minds to the end of this week.

I have bipolar disorder and have been trained at the MHU not to take decisions too rapidly! (Sue has banned me from buying another bike until I've sold the two I have already bought and then decided I don't like. I rode less than 100 miles last year - although I used to 12,000 a year.)

Regards,
Steve.
