Hi,

Does anyone know who manufactures the GPS system in my car, it has the Bose speakers, the reason I ask is that I need to upgrade the maps and don't really want to fork out for a £350 cd that will still only give me a 4 digit post code search.

Or better still has anyone got a later cd that they are selling or I could borrow to upgrade the maps.

Also have any of you resolved the intergration of the iPhone 6 so that it down loads the contacts etc? The clarity is good but I need to get my contacts download or I will have to get my Parrot MKi9200 installed that came out of my previous car that I part extend for the QP

Just bumping this up as no replies.

Do you all just accept the GPS installed or do you just accept the expense or use a Garmin stuck to your windscreen?

TomTom for me, but same principle. I like the accurate traffic, regular free map updates and speed camera information that the TomTom provides.

Yep have come to the conclusion that the internal GPS is rubbish, so another Garmin it is then.

As for the iPhone 6 integration, I don't really want to have my old Parrot 9200i installed as would rather use the built-in that sounds very clear, but won't copy my contacts so much harder to use, any ideas?

Thanks Keano,

No probs exporting out of Exchange the .csv file, the only problem is that currently the USB socket isn't working but is in for fixing as I type, I trust the USB is also OK for Data transfer as opposed to just charging?

Hi John

USB socket in the dash of QP does not charge and is only used for data transfer. From pg45 of 201140059-Advanced-Electronics-3-Comfort.pdf on the dropbox it says...

The AUX-IN/USB socket is housed in the glove compartment and there may two types.
The type fitted is recognisable from the symbol shown next to it.

USB Recharge socket (optional for NIT HW 7 and for the first vehicles with NIT HW 8.0)
This socket is exclusively dedicated to powering the external source, of course, if this source has been designed for this use (e.g. iPod). This socket cannot be used for data exchange.

So while the one in the Glovebox charges it will only charge newer iPhones if you have a converter as the voltage was either different or on different pins...forget which :) I bought a LAYEN i-Charge to get an iPhone4S working with my offline Spotify library http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00BFXPBD2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00 Its ok and you can change iPhone music library from the steering wheel but not Spotify whihc is a pity...

thx

Thanks Keano,

I was led to believe that the USB socketon the front panel of the Bose was for charging only, so will have to do some more reading up.

The glove box has an early 50 pin iPod adapter that I believe is plugged in to the USB and 3.5m socket, but currently isn't working, it was part of the original Maserati supply spec, I'm leaving the dealer to advise/sort out, I have an Apple lightning converter so it will work with all of my iPods and iPhone.

Following on from my post Here GrahamPaul have come back and said that the reason the iPod socket is not working is because it is not a Maserati factory fitted option.

Now Bowker Maserati very kindly gave me a screen dump of the original spec of the car which I have attached, now unless my eyes deceive me it does say in the original spec iPod connecter???Spec Sheet.jpg

GrahamPaul who supplied the vehicle new are saying that the one fitted in my vehicle is not factory fitted option, has anyone got one of these fitted from new that could supply a picture?

I'm not so much worried about charging as it is dead easy to just plug a USB lead into a charging point, but I am more concerned about having a 3.5mm interface for playing my music, yes I know there is a 30GB HDD to upload music to but it would make things easier if I can just leave a spare iTouch in the glove box.

Does anyone know if the Maserati iPod interface is just two leads plugged into a 3.5mm jack socket and a female USB socket.

I'm one of these fussing people that hates it if something is fitted and supposed to work and doesn't.

If GrahamPaul are correct then it looks like I will have to have my Mki9200 refitted into the car for the interface.

Thanks for your help?

Has anybody had a Parrot Mki9200 fitted to their QP, the dealers I bought the car from have offered to fit my existing Mki9200 free of charge into the car and I wanted to check that there are no compatibility issues?

If anyone has had the Mki9200 fitted then where have you had the head unit mounted? I have seen the smaller Mki9100 head unit fitted very nicely between the speedo and Rev counter at the bottom, this look almost standard so was wondering whether to go down that route?

Thanks Catman, my 911 has a Bose system in and that was a PITA to get the mki9100 operational, but I took it to some specialists in Redditch and they managed to sort it out.

Thanks Keano, I have just received the Layen but can't test it until I get the car back, hopefully at the end of this week.

Just thought I'd give an update and conclusion to this thread.

I have finally got the car back after 4 weeks and surprise surprise the iPod connection now works when it didn't previously, me thinks the connector at the back of the unit was loose and by removing it and checking that it has reseated it self.

Anyway, I decided that one way or the other I was going to prove that it was operational or not and despite owning a number of iPods/iTouch's/iPhones, the dealers kept claiming it was only designed to work with the iPod Classic!

Now have you seen the prices of these now, a good condition 7th Generation version with 160GB capacity will fetch up to £700!!!! Anyway I looked on fleabay and finally found a very nice 6th Generation 160GB one and bought it for £139, I copied all of my playlists into it and it works perfectly, in fact better than I could have imagined, I rather like the way it displays my playlists at the top and then allows me to select either through the steering wheel controls or the unit what tracks to play, and it charges perfectly as well, so happy days.

I have tried it with the adapter that Keano suggested I buy from Amazon and all of my Apple kit works with it now and charges, many thanks Keano for the tip.

Concerning the phone, I exported my main contacts from our Exchange server to a .csv file and I edited the file to just 146 contacts and although it took something like 25 minutes to import via the USB upload at the front of the radio unit, it did import the contacts fine. I've had one little issue with my sons contacts where it insists that his mobile number is the home number despite my checking it thoroughly, but that is just a minor thing. The voice activation is OK, not as good as the Parrot but perfectly functional if just a little slow.

So I am rather pleased that I have had to modify anything and the car can remain as standard.

I will fit a Garmin GPS unit as like everyone advised the built GPS is not friendly and will put the GPS on the windscreen tucked down on the right hand side with the cigar lighter plug fitted into the empty multi CD tray under the steering wheel.

Big thanks to everyone especially Keano for his tips.
