As I understand it they are trying to avoid being on the hook from consumer rights legislation, which I also understand is not allowed... So something's afoot and they don't want any comeback.

TBH, if I was selling a 2007 QP for under £10k, I wouldn't want any comeback either. And their core business is selling £3k runabouts, where the risk is more modest. So not necessarily a known problem, just that this is probably their most 'liability-heavy' car.

Ow on the face of it this looks in good condition for the age. A few cosmetics in the pictures ..... Front parking sensor paint of ......but just stuff that could be done. The interior also looks well looked after and I monitor for me is that rear centre console that lots have the leather ripped on the corners. This one doesn’t. But as above if hey are a dealer they have to give some kind of warranty....not sure it that’s 3 months or a month but they cannot do a trade sale to a member of the public.

Agree with this but they should just trade it themselves or avoid having bought it in the first place.

You can't waive your trader status by putting trade sale in the advert , if they sell it to me I'll still have all the same consumer rights , no idea why they think that

I did read somewhere that you make sure the receipt doesn't say sold as scrap or non runner etc

There's a RHD '90s Ghibli on carandclassic.com that's being 'sold for restoration' down near Witney which looks fine in the photos and has an MOT until August next year, I emailed the seller the other day asking about this and received a very honest and prompt reply saying it was to avoid as much liability as possible.

This. If you, as a consumer, buy the car, you cannot waive the rights. Even if you sign something that you do. You can still have them on the SOG (is it still called that?)
