2007 QP GTS - Opinions

Hi guys.

Dabbling whether to pull the trigger on a 2007 Quattroporte GTS. 10,000 miles ion the clock.

What's throwing me is that the logo on the wheels and bonnet seem to be fading (the red is more pink). The car has hardly been driven in six years.

Assuming all QP GTS came with the 4.7? It has the red covers over the V8, not blue, so assuming it's a 4.7 isntead of a 4.2.

It has the duo-select clutch. I have descending driveway so thinking reversing out every morning will eat the clutch. Read a bot about it here.

Any members own a QP GTS with Duo-Select. Would love to hear your opinions, good and bad.

Hi Bell, are you looking at a face lift car as a 2007 GTS were all 4.2 and not avaiable in 2007 I believe....The face lift came along and thats when the GTS got the 4.7......All GTS are Auto the duo select was not an option.

Now if you are looking at a GT Sport then that is different....The GT Sport and GT Exec were available as Duo Select......The GTS was the last model that came out before the face lift. You can tell one apart from the GT Sport as the GTS had black window surround and not chrome...black tail pipe on the exhaust as well....Most will have alcantara on the seats as well although you could have had full leather as an upgrade......

I believe the face lift 4.7 GTS came out in 2009..........

Do you have any pictures of the car as that would tell us what model it is..........The GTS is a rare car and the best of the pre face lift cars in my opinion....

Here is a GTS .... You will see the dark exhaust etc....(by the wa I so want this silver car)

Thanks for the info. Andy. Very, very helpful.

Think I've got my model completely wrong.

It is indeed a GT Sport with Duo select. Not the GTS. My bad. Assuming none of the GT Sport's had the 4.7?

I had a GT Sport for 6 years an outstanding car the due select I thought was brilliant much better than the standard auto on the GTS model. Service was a two year interval and the only thing that it needed in 6 years was a set of tyres. Drive both and see what works for you, we all different and enjoy!

Bell, you are right ... thats a 4.2 GT Sport Duo select...Cracking car......and sitting on the best wheels you can put on a QP.....Lovely car...and es none of that model QP had the 4.7 as mentioned that came around 2009...

I would be slightly concerned about clutch wear if you're using the car as a daily driver and reversing up a slope each day. Having said that, as the car has done only 10k miles, there should be plenty of meat left on it.

Enjoy!!

The 4.7 engine started build in September 08 IIRC when the GranTurismo GTS MC and facelift QP were released.

Strange, I thought the QP only went to 2 year servicing with the autumn 08 facelift.

No deff two year service intervals with a four year maserati assistance package, which was excellent as I called them out twice both for punctures when the foam stuff wouldn't work.

I have a Black QP GT Sport, no issues, build if first class, F1 Clutch ( as it is called on the late 2006/7 models) has the duel clutch plate, which is smooth & progressive.. the GTSport change is quicker btw, with no lag.

I change the Oil twice a year to keep it sweet, now on 66k having owned it for 3 years ..

Maybe they changed the service regime when the Auto QP was released in Jan 07?

Also I thought that Assistance was 3 years like the warranty?

Bagdes are not expensive by the way so if that's the biggest gripe, don't worry about it! Lovely car.

Just wanted to thank you all again fellas.

Very helpful.

The guy who was selling it rang the official Ferrari/Maserati dealership asking about the engine. They said it was a 4.7. Obviously sounds like they got it wrong.

Is there ant significance between the QP engine covered in blue or red?

My own understanding was that red covers signify a higher power engine.

I think that the Red Covers are normally when used in conjuction with the duo select gearbox and the blue covers are for the ZF auto gearboxes, I think the ZF auto boxed engines have a wet sump as well.

Depends what they were asked. There are plenty of search engines which will give the info. Post the reg number here if you like.
