That was on Autotrader about 3 months ago - I remember as it was the newest (or latest..) on Autotrader when i was looking.

Was up at £23,500 and then was dropped to £22k. I have a copy of the original advert as i was keeping a log of late 4200 that came up for sale.

It also said in the original advert that it will be serviced before sale.

Only thing against it is the miles - no mention of the clutch being done, could be due. and being sold for a Friend.

Funny that the milage is considered high....its a 6-ish year old car, so what, about 8k a year? Excluding Ferrari/Maserati and the like, thats low miles IMO, but because most poeple dont use their Maserati's, its considered high.

I suppose most of us don't use them as everyday cars, I know some do, so a 5 year old car at 10K a year is pretty high for what we would class as a weekender. The engine is capable of handling the mileage, but the general wear and tear would be slightly higher than most of us are used to.

I do about 6K a year in mine, alternating it between my other more modest cars.

Interesting to see the mark-up simply for the late plate. I wonder when the car was *actually* built, rather than when it was registered.

Means I'm stuffed when I sell my five year old GTS with 50k miles on the clock. Oh well........

I bought my 4200 a few weeks ago and had to test drive a few pigs before I found something reasonable (I hope). It amazes me what some people consider to be acceptable for a car of a certain age. Bad spraying is bad spraying on any age of car. Even oil leaks and juddery wiper motor on a car from a Mas specialist....

There are loads of dogs / pigs around, it's amazing how many have just been abused, or not really cared for correctly. I just don't understand the mentality of buying a super car and then treating it like something you trod in???

...happens when they get to a certain age plus bought by certain types....all of a sudden they become a huge burden and things don't get done.......but it applies to all marques ultimately.....

You are right Rob, it completely put me off buying a 4200 for a while after seeing a few rough ones.
I know a lot is said about buying a late model, but when I saw my early model in a pampered condition with low miles, condition became more important than age.

Mike,
I concur, I am still looking for "The One", but the road is a rocky one!! I will find one eventually, but when you add on the Indie inspections you have wasted on dogs, it starts to get sort of expensive. I know the money is well spent, but you can easy add on a grand to the search for your car if you see a few.

I know what you mean, I guess I was lucky in the end, the one I went for and have now had an excellent inspection report, only requiring a cam cover gasket and track rod end, both replaced by the selling garage prior to delivery.
Not many up here relative to down south adds to the cost of the search.
What's your budget?

Well Rob as time goes by you've picked up lots of tips and things to look for....so really....unless they tick nearly all the boxes to start with....don't even waste your money on an inspection.....don't even shorlist them
