Thanks P, any endorsements from forum members who know me & the car can only add credibility and re-assurance to prospective buyers!

I know that Vic & Kev at Migliore Cars in Bromsgrove who have looked after the car for the last three years are prepared to recommend it!

Ok Guys, need some advise.

Not had much interest in the car to date.

I put it up on here and on the dark side as well as on Piston Heads the other week.

The question is, is there something wrong with the add/car or are my price expectations unrealistic?

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Regards

Hi,

I only purchased my 4200 about 6 weeks ago. I originally set a ceiling of £14k and did view some in dealerships that were similar priced to yours, with lower mileage, but not up to the standard I was looking for internally and externally. Yours looks in extremely good condition on those fronts... What made me move up a few years was the software updates to the gearbox. What I found out later though was that these would have been made to older cars when being serviced.
I would have definitely wanted to view yours. The only worry with a private buy is if something goes wrong! Have you considered getting a short term warranty to include?
I know this is "overkill" but I have just taken out a lifetime warranty with 'Warrant Works" for mechanical and electrical breakdown for £1500 ( now I know you never know how good a warranty is until you need to claim and i've read good and bad reviews about all the leading suppliers), which is transferable. May be they could do something for 3/6 months?

As a number of current Maserati owners have progressed from Alfas perhaps you coud put up a classified in an Alfa forum, eg alfaowner.com has a "other manufacuturers" in their classifiied section.

I am sure other Italian car forums will have similar sections.

9 year old supercars such as a 4200 are always going to attract interest from these type of forum member, its quite a specialist / individual buy hence mainstream advertising wont work IMHO.

Your car looks stunning by the way.

Just my 2 cents.

The price varies quite a bit on 4200s along with most cars. Unfortunately people want to pay as little as possible and still expect an excellent car. It may be an idea to pay for an inspection report on the car, this would certainly be a plus point. Any serious buyer will do this anyway.

Having an inspection report is a good idea. I had an RAC inspection done on the 4200 i purchased. It cost £300 and gave me confidence that I wasn't buying a "dog". On the flip side if it highlights problems you may need to get them fixed, which would be a great confidence boost to a potential buyer that you have rectified known problems, but may cost you money. Bit of a double edged sword.
From a personal perspective if I viewed a car that had been inspected and then had any essential work carried out based on the report, I'd be prepared to pay top dollar.
