Oil sender unit does play up but always fixes itself

That's what people who don't 'get' Italian cars can't understand.

You buy a BMW and you have to take it to the dealer to get warning lights fixed.
Italian cars are sooooo advanced they fix themselves. And they don't even charge you extra for the cutting edge technology they put in the cars! :lol2::lol2::lol2:

I replaced the oil sender unit in the 42, it worked, but did not fix itself..!! I got oil warning lights coming on when she was hot, plenty of fresh correct oil, but the pressure display dropped to almost nothing when hot. So out it came, new one and no further bother, all is well with the world..!!

Regardless of exclusivity, one thing I am sure we are definitely in agreement over is that the Ghibli looks superb!

Bowker said in their review that it sounded 'sweet' - how did Maserati manage to get the 'burbling sound' as this was the thing that let my diesel Jaguar down - it looked the part but still sounded very much like a diesel. Having just gone from an MGB V8 I knew that I needed that V8 sound to put a smile on my ugly mug, hence the Maserati GT. Something tells me I ticked the right box for noise!

Alas the sound is a cheat............its all done with valves and speakers..............the car still sounds like a diesel from the front, but the lovely burble at the rear

Does that mean that with the right sound system, any car can sound like a V8 or even a V12?

Perhaps I could record the noise of my engine and burn it to CD for those times when I'm in a cr@p hire car... :auto62:

Yeah, it's two 6.5" speakers in the back boxes.

Part of me thinks 'what a con', but another part of me thinks "Maserati, you geniuses!" :)

Genius indeed and the best bit is that you only have to pay the government a sensible amount of road tax...

Maybe they should adopt a similar thing for electric cars - they're far too quiet for my liking, sneaking up on you in car parks!

Yes electric cars should be fitted with a reversing type beeper for running anywhere, they are a bit dangerous when you can't hear the darn things..!!

Is the sound reactive, when you put your foot down does it get louder and higher pitched, or do you just get the tickover burble and then it switches off when running..??

yes its reactive, works as the throttle is pressed, if you didnt know you would be sure it was the engine sound

BMW F10 M5 actually pipes an engine note into the cabin to add more sense of occasion. I don't need that in mine as the V10 sounds epic without any need for a faux engine burble. It's a con and would really annoy me so it would be turned off for sure. The problem is we are losing big engines for smaller engines with TT's and it is killing that sense for me. The beauty of supercars is the v8,V10 or V12 engine notes not some stifled or man made engine note.

Not always possible with smaller twin turbo engines as the turbos extract energy from the exhaust gas flow and muffle the sound and no, I'm not having a pop at the 3200! Just a thought; perhaps is an attempt to insulate the occupants from the bulk of extraneous wind, tyre, and traffic noise whilst letting them savour the exhaust note of the car they are in.
