Have to respectfully disagree. They are worlds/classes apart in terms of design, elegance and passion. Was never especially convinced by the front of the XK.

Not saying the GT is less of a car, i would have one anyday ahead of the XK but with the size the GT became compared to the GS they were aiming for the big coupe market, XK, bmw 6 etc.....

There has not been a Maserati that is received well for a long long time.

What was the 3200 like when new? Did they say good things being radical design and improved over the old cars or was it negative?

Good things are always said but they are never viewed as best in class. No problem mind, keeps them exclusive.

Reviews were good Dem back then....and a big step on from the Bi turbo era...But it was a Maserati so did have flaws.......Big step on though...The first EVO review which was the first every issue of EVO and had the 3200 on the front cover was very good.

Interesting point. I wonder whether they built the chassis with both the QP5 and GT in mind or whether the GT was an opportunistic development with the XK, BMW6 etc. in mind?

I've got a copy somewhere too. There are two caveats IIRC:
-Magazines have to be overly positive on cars early on as they will get nothing to test; and
-HM is a Maserati fan so it needs to be discounted further for that.

On another matter, HM's Twitter feed shows that his GTS is now for sale.
