I am surprised that they should release the diesel first for review. Perhaps part of the strategy of minimising potential crossover between QP to Ghibli sales?

Never ever thought I would live long enough to see a thread about diesel Maseratis. What a way to approach the centenary. :(

The DNA of the name, the marque and all its history, contaminated.........diluted, much prefer if they had more engine options within a petrol range

Agree but for them to make a 5 series rival they had to....aslong as it sticks to the 4 door models and they don do a coupe diesel its alright.....

Forum posters by and large will not like it. Being personal about it, if I wanted someone to park next to me in a car which cost half of what mine cost, I could buy a 650i, still have a V8 and have better electronics and nearer & cheaper servicing. Add in it being a cheaper car in the first place then it has something going for it. Maserati need to be very careful here. Prior to this it was seen as an AM competitor. Now it's very unclear.

Doomed.
Part of the joy of Maserati ownership is....exclusivity.......passion for the marque which allowed us to forgive the foibles......foibles..........the Ferrari connection.....knock out drop dead design.......performance.

Now they are making Reps cars. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh.

Yes, there is a move more into the main stream.....Will say in the past Maserati has been seen as a Jag competitor....But the GT sort of moved that away and up market.

I think the GT is like an XK......

Sort of agree...The standard Auto GT was pitch by certain magazines at the XK.....and with them both being long distance cruisers and not sports cars it sort of makes sense........
