If it has just been to HR Owen to have the slave cylinder bit sorted why didn;t they have the electrical bits done as well.......???.........How can you tell if its a real SR I wonlder.

That could be a good project but I'm guessing it won't sell for peanuts and we know that these can hide serious rust. One for the brave enthusiast.

Strange one that....if mechanics decent, might be worth spending a few bob on body, but if both shot.......moneypit and little value at end!

It's not a racing model , the engine on it from the pictures it's a three valve .
All the racing model cars had the four vale engine .

Is this not the same car that was up for sale last year?...we discussed its 'Racing Pedigree' back then and it was poo-pooed If I recall correctly someone emailed the seller and the car vanished.

Hi guys,

I'm the seller for this Maserati, just wanted to join the forums to post a link to it but I can see I've already been beaten to it! Haha!

Just want to answer some of the questions that have been asked...

1. If it has just been to HR Owen to have the slave cylinder bit sorted why didn;t they have the electrical bits done as well.......???.........How can you tell if its a real SR I wonlder.

I bought the car from the person who just had it at HR Owen to have this work done SO I have no idea why he didn't get the electrical bits done OR get the handbrake cables done, as he had purcahsed the new cables.

2. It's not a racing model , the engine on it from the pictures it's a three valve .
All the racing model cars had the four vale engine .

It is a racing model as you can clearly see on the log book which is pictured in the eBay advert to show its a Racing model, it is stated as being a Maserati Racing - plus doing checks on the car it most certainly is...

3. Is this not the same car that was up for sale last year?...we discussed its 'Racing Pedigree' back then and it was poo-pooed If I recall correctly someone emailed the seller and the car vanished.

I do believe the previous owner advertised it on eBay but I think he pulled it off as he said he changed his mind!!??... But anyways its back on now and is going to the highest bidder as I've just bought it to sell on... I know if I spent a little time and work I could probably get a bit more but really there isn't much to do... Also they're's no rust on it anywhere! Underneath is in fantastic condition.

Anymore questions please ask guys!

Thanks for your time.

The website for the SR shows a spoiler in front of the windscreen that isn't on the white car shown, and it's mentioned in the official blurb as well. Not saying it's not an SR or not a "racing" but there are inconsistencies. I'm sure someone will buy it and love it.

Interesting post on the maserati forum site which I think provides definitive proof that it is not, as has been pointed out, a Racing...Note as well that the listing no longer states this too...Well done to the seller for reflecting this new evidence. ..still looks like a nice 222.

I still have it listed as a Racing as it states that on the log book... interesting facts on that website though... But It has Racing on the valve covers & states it on the log book... Which to me, its a Racing hence why its been advertised as a Racing. Thanks
