Well, I class myself as an obsessive, verging OCD Valeter...on my own car of course.

Over the near 25 years of this I have pretty much tried it all. I am a salesmanship dream, if it's sold as a 'Wonder Product' I have to have it and thus, my garage shelves are creaking under the weight of half used products that are approaching vintage status.

When it comes to leather treatment, I have that licked: Woolies leather cleanser solvent and Gliptone.

Glass and car shampoo I use Autosmart, but waxes, I change like my underwear, easily sold on new wonder products. Way back I always Autoglym Resin polish but it's very powdery and a bu55er to clean off.

My recent purchase was Autoglym HD. It's like £50 a pot. Ok, it's good but smears and smears, remember we are working on flat black here so it shows everything. The older powder waxes get stuck in the stone chips and scratches and sometimes you wonder why you bothered.

So yesterday after washing the car, the sun was out, so went delving round the back of the shelf and called on an old friend.....Harley.

It's a brilliant product and now my first choice again, I urge you all to go get some and give it a try. I think it's strength is dark and black cars, it works really well.

On the leather front, I "liquid leathered" my seats yesterday. That's Gliptone, but I believe Gliptone is used when sold to the US market.
It's good stuff, may have to buy another bottle, it disappears rather quickly! You can't over do it though.

I found the trick with AG HD is to wet the applicator and literally just place it on top of cold wax and that's more than enough for a 3' by 3' section... so yes, a great product but even a little is too much. The wax holograms do take a long time to disappear if you've used too much product.

Harleys or Collonite is great for a matt finish.

Matt, love Harleys but recently have been using Dodo juice wax......I find it better than Harleys and it smells good enough to eat....They do different types for different paint finished.......I use the Juiced poor boys edition...Love it....

I've no idea what to use as a wax, the way I do it is jet wash clean then hot wax out of the jet wash machine!
I do use a leather or microfiber cloth to dry her off though

If your using a lot, that good news as its being sucked into the leather and thus doing its job.

I didn't think it was dry before, the leather is not cracked, but it does take it in.
But thinking about it, the AC is always on, that dries the atmosphere, and the leather!

Simple leather maintenance trick is to put a bowl of hot water in the car over night every now than then. Aircon, heating and modern well sealed cabins really do dry it out, so the water vapour will gently re-hydrate your leather.

Don't forget the bowl's in there though.
