Don't know about you but I find this quite abhorrent. Why the **** should the hard working pay to put up the homeless in 4 * hotels in Chelsea?

Now I don't mind my tax dollar going to the mentally ill and vulnerable in society but I take exception to accommodating whole families in top notch hotels in London, because there is no council housing left.

There are other options :

Send them to areas of our fine country that does have council flats available ie Glasgow or Birmingham. What they want and where they want to live is academic the fact is they can't afford to live in Chelsea and neither can I !! I pay a lot of tax and I can't bear this waste. You just wouldn't put up with it in real life so why do we accept it? Glad I don't live in Chelsea otherwise I would be really ****** off!

Ben elton rant over!

I know thats one issue in one council ...... Cheshire split into two a couple of years ago west and east I drive my kids to school due west for 8 miles and i live in Cheshire west and the school is cheshire east.... Two chief execs and all their hangers on?. Don't get it while I am making redundancies ..pillocks!

I cant get started on this. It infuriates me that my wife and I cant afford to live closer to work (even if we wanted to, central London), yet those on social housing get to live in Covent Garden, Pimlico, Notting Hill etc., in flats that Bankers can barely afford. How is that right?

If you want to live in a premium area, you have to pay a premium. If you want social housing, then I'm afraid you have to take the housing where its available. What do you mean, thats an infringement to your oooman rights? Gah....

At the risk of breaking a cardinal rule, and discussing politics on line ;) While I completley agree that those not working should probably not be housed in central London, there is a challenge around those doing low paid work *in* central London. Cleaners, nurses, etc etc.

If we move them out to cheaper areas, and let's be honest, that can be a bloody long way, they then can't afford to travel in :( As ever, no simple solution in our overcrowded capital.

I don't think an Oyster card would cost £12k per month? Which was the figure quoted on radio 4 as the cost being incurred to house one family in a central London hotel.......it's completely bonkers !

Apologies to all for breaking the cardinal sin but my wife wasn't listening and I need to get it off my chest,!

**** ****** ***! £12k? Per MONTH?? Makes my mortgage and utility bills look reasonable! I could run my family AND an F12 for that. And have some left over for amusing holidays. Probably.

That's ridiculous, they could move then out of central London then supply a chauffeur to run the, and the family around for no where NEAR that!

It not just here. I was chatting to a mate in Dublin this afternoon and a mutual friend has just announced his girlfriend is expecting. She lives with him but but she is a refugee from Montenegro she has claimed she is homeless, and expecting, and Dublin Council has given her a two bedroom apartment. It gets worse, under the right to buy scheme she will be entitled to buy it a huge discount soon.

No wonder we have no industry left with the government giving support like this...it breeds apathy.

Stop the handouts and we will see a work ethic grow because they HAVE to work, the economy will improve and all will be good.

Namby pamby state that we are ....who are the mugs?.?.

Industrial output has been slipping over last 50 odd years...........not sure why things have gone so badly wrong........but was it ever great anyways?

I am all for supporting those in their time of need.......but it needs to be policed properly and fraudulent use of same stopped

Agreed P.

Unfortunately it appears there are plenty who manipulate the system and the system is broken anyway !
