thanks for all that guys - it was the motor. Stuck forward, started overheating and blew fuse. Getting it out with the seat stuck forward only took 2 days! Had to undo the seat squab (2 white plastic clips under seat front - easy, and 2 10mm nuts - invisible and impossible. Disconnect cables...

Looks like it might be control unit as there's no movement from any of the seat controls....

Started up today after a week lay off and re-charge. Front seat immediately goes hard forward and won't go back, followed by smoking motor under the seat - am I to be crushed to death by my own Maserati or burned - or both! Would make the local paper at least. All by the by - does anyone know...

It's grey half leather. I did see one when I was buying which was Teflon blue and a bit garish and the darker colours make it feel smaller than it is for me.

Popped round to Migliore in Bromsgrove. Stuck the analyser on and reset 2 faults which had gone into memory on the ECUs - although no faults showing as live. As soon as they were reset the engine started running more smoothly and the starting problem was gone. Keeping an eye on it most likely...

2004 GS been running absolutely fine. Today, drove 30 mins. parked 2 hours, started fine. Drove 10 mins to petrol station, wouldn't start. All dash lights OK, battery OK, turning over but wouldn't fire. Left for 10 mins and after several winds on the starter button eventually grumbled into...

You can buy a mini FM transmitter that plugs into your phone/ipod etc which transmits to free radio channel - no wires, no removing head units. Going to get one for my GS and already got a little standalone Bluetooth unit to avoid digging out the dashboard. Seen both in Maplin. Howard
