Granturismo S Tyre Choices?

My car is running P Zeros all round, as per factory spec, and the rears are fairly new. My fronts are running low however and will soon need to be replaced. I've never been a huge fan of P Zeros, especially in the wet and I do use my car in most conditions.

What brands are everyone running on their GTs? Has anyone tried any alternatives and what are your thoughts on mixing brands on each axle as my rears should be good for quite a while yet?

I realise that P Zeros are the Maserati recommended tyre for the Granturismo but is there a generally considered better alternative out there?

Thanks all

I have P zero on my QP and they are bordering on lethal in the wet. Dry not much better really and the sooner I can ditch them the better. On the 18" rims they are a really rare size on rear of 275/45/18 and there are only 4 types available so I wil switch to Toyos.

My normal go to tyre is the Goodyear Eagle F1 asym 2.

Not a fan of PZeros either, however they are the only ones I could find last time around at the right size. They seem to combine low grip with high wear which is quite an achievement.

Running P Zeros front and back on my GT.

Replaced them all last year. Maser specialist advised best to run the same brand of tyre front and back, whatever you choose.

Will see first-hand how much mileage I get out of them and go from there.

Not a massive fan of the Pzero tyre but it did work extremely well on this car.

Still, if I had my time again, and you can get the sizes, Goodyear Eagle F1's all the way for me.

Had bridgestones on the rear and pirelli on the front when i got the car and it was fine until i put Pirelli on the rear then it all went a bit iffy. As soon as they are worn ( which does not seem to take long) i will be Continental all round or will look at Bridgestone. Have a chat with Mark @ Apex Tyres in Peterborough as they did my tracking all round and prices are v good.

I went to SC3s which are now also recommended by Maserati - better tyre than the P Zero esp as temps drop. I'm on Sotto Zeros for the winter (fifth season, they wear well) but in southern England you are unlikely to need them. Mind my last two winters in the south were very cold.

Thanks everyone, I used GY on my 3200 and was very happy with those so will certainly check out some of these options when it's time to change
Cheers

For some reason I struggled to find the contis in the rear tyre size so ended up with the Pirellis again.

I got my Contis last spring and there was no problem but I guess it can vary. I know that in the past the P Zero could be hard to get.

yet another tyre thread didn't come to a conclusion to which tyre is best...

You really expected that? What is 'best' in any case as when you are dealing with a multi dimensional set of variables you have to target some things more than others?

Anyway for most people their new tyre brand is better than the old one as new tyres offer more grip than our old knackered ones and we are all largely prone to defend out actions.

It was only a verification, nothing more. Sure that everyone has his own angle, but this topic honestly has no limits in driver's preferences, and surely it's difficult for someone to understand the differences between the tyres, unless he tries the tyre for himself.

I agree with the last point which is why we can have different perspectives, trouble is it can be very expensive working out which tyre we, individually, prefer. At least with the GranTurismo there are few tyre choices if you wish to match front and back.

That's my experience. Plus the fronts and rears don't wear out at the same time (not yet, anyway) so to avoid mixing front and rear I have always ended up sticking with PZeros. On the upside it avoids having to buy four new tyres at the same time.

Yup and also you will have had to try all the brands to come to a conclusion.

Personally I don't drive hard enough to find any difference between the P Zeros and the new Michellins I have.

Road noise wise they seem the same.
