Find a GS you really like and then say; "Hey b!tch do you want to get hitched? This is a one time only deal and if you say no you can f*ck off". When she says "No" you can go out and find a Stradale you really like. ;)

Greg, I had jokingly suggested that before. She said, that she wouldn't have even got as far as looking in the car.
So I guess that is totally out of the question.

That doesn't bode well for the future Mark :(

No compromise? Her way or the highway? Can't spend your own money? I get the point, but surely if you BOTH get what you want that should be an absolutely cracking day, no? And she really won't look in the car unless already wearing a ring?

No good me trying to give advice I sort of fell into being engaged... We were already in business together and had joint accounts so it seemed like a sensible move!

Perhaps I'm being a little unfair to her, I was the one who said I'd buy her a ring before I bought a Maser.
But they way I've worked it, she'll have the ring then shortly after I'll buy a Maser.

So I keep her happy and I get to buy whatever I like, which is basically the case anyway. But it always helps to keep a store of brownie points.

Benny, although I'm after a GS, if a few work things go my way I can buy what I want.
And either way I can and will spend as much as I like.

.......I have number plate K33 WEL on my car and said K333 WEL would look good on her's but as it sort of spells my name she said she wouldn't put it on her car until I popped the question..So on her birthday she was opening her presents in bed and one present was the number plates...she said thanks but never twigged...then she opened a box which had a big birthday cake with the words will you marry me on top....I went on one knee and said the words and gave her the ring....

Not sure 100% but think it was along the lines of long weekend to Verona & I requested permission from mother in law to be prior to travelling & popped question there. Was kind of expected & planned & not tap spur of moment thing. My wife really doesn't like big surprises. Still in the 33% camp .

Took another 8 years to get the Maser though.

We both woke up one morning to the sound of both children crying, Jamie (22 mths, Hannah 2 mths) - I looked over and said do you fancy getting married before we have number 3 ?

Surprisingly she agreed and then we each went off to sort the babies :)

I proposed in a swanky hotel in Cyprus. A proper 5 star where Michael Jackson stayed, went for a meal to a Michelin starred restaurant and just proposed.....

wish it was fish and chips in skegness now though

Lorna actually proposed to me!
Cannot for the life of me understand why.
At that time I was a drunken ne'er do well that dabbled in all sorts of nefarious activities
She saved me from a debauched life and put me on the straight and narrow
Sometimes I swear I will never forgive her and so I have relapses from time to time

Well, I decided to take none of your advice and just did it completely randomly. Came downstairs and just asked her to marry me. No big event or grand gesture. Just asked. She said yes. Happy days!
