Heading back home after a day in Tel Aviv, great partner event and even though i promised I wouldn't I stayed out till 2.00 with the kids (young sales people) and up at 6.30 for flight... going through security at Tel Aviv with a hangover is a challenge.

It is, allow four hours before flight as they will grill you!

Difficult times lie ahead, who knows were it will all end up.....for Greece

P

It's not just Greece, the Euro doesn't work for many countries and printing Trillions out of thin air will not change this lack of competitivness.

Congratulations Greece, you've finally grown a pair- you're bankrupt and can't afford the repay, restructuring is a cop out, default and bring the financial charade down. The drachma gives you the chance to rebuild and others will follow suit...cyprus, spain, Italy......

Many years in the wilderness lie ahead...........if they default and fail to offer any meaningful repayment schedule.

The markets rule.......as the euro zone has found out

If Greece default and go back to its own currency it will become the jewel of Europe to holiday in....bringing in tourism, bringing in foreign money, making Greece stronger.

I know its a bit of a stereotype, taring Greece with the tourist brush but you make people get more for their money and they will flock.

As Wattie says, congrats on growing a pair and watch the rest follow your lead in Europe.

Oh, where are my manners, good morning all.

I have not been around that much of late, and not on this thread so much but I am buried in the garage at the moment spending every spare hour finishing off the GS for the impending clement weather.

Tourist is never enough, a single sector economy is less than ideal, they will struggle for many years, maybe it will be worth that to get back some pride.

Nope, but at least it would be a cheap Drachma priced economy and not a continuing, never ending uncompetitive Euro one!!!!
Greece bailed out German/French banks...thats where the bailout cash ended up- now it needs to make them pay

Greece has a perfect poker hand! We'll default unless you write off huge sums. Faced with 20c on the € or nil as a creditor what would you choose???

Others will then follow.....Spain

Agree with you. Tourism is a low pay area for those who don't own the hotels etc.

If they default it will be us taxpayers who will pick up the tab with even higher deficits needing paying off. Who will lend again to Greece at a rate that is competitive?

Morning all - have a good day!

For me, another day another car - this time an S-class Merc - never had so many rides as I have since owning a Maserati (and not in a good way)

This time she's being sorted out by Greypaul in the Midlands after being recovered there!!

Dang! What's the story, Jon?

Heading back home after a day in Tel Aviv, great partner event and even though i promised I wouldn't I stayed out till 2.00 with the kids (young sales people) and up at 6.30 for flight... going through security at Tel Aviv with a hangover is a challenge.

TLV is no fun at all at the best of times. The interrogations are enough to throw the most sharp-witted off balance, but it's nastier yet with a hangover. I hope you survived unscathed.

Morning everyone. On the express to Heathrow, Stockholm bound and armed with heavy coat, gloves and scarf. Shame to be leaving behind such a nice blue-sky day.

.

Everytime I go I managed to get a Mogdon (sp) from a government or official company, this piece of paper is worth a good hour or two in security as when presented to the usually angry looking customs/security official in the queue at departures it means you suffer only a small interrogation and then jump to the check in queue.

But isn't that the crux of the matter.......Greece has been lent money it can never afford to pay back!!! Lending it more under the same conditions is not the answer...just kicking the can.

Politicians have put taxpayers in catch22.

Greece can afford to pay back long term...far better than some African countries.

Greece spent billions of EU money getting their country to modern standards as has Spain and the Eastern European countries... without these funds they would be in a far poorer state infrastructure wise. Yes give them longer to pay but the reforms must continue to make it better...things like anti corruption, pension reforms, efficiency in the public sector.

It's wide known that the freedom of speech is accepted in all western European countries.
But it's useless to speak, if someone has no personal experience. And the above statements are made with no personal experience. Just only made with what the media tell.

As a greek -which i am not proud of beeing, but i still am one- i know exactly what's going on, and the media have no idea what is happening. Returning to drachma is not the solution.

Not true, I have experience, I was living in Cyprus when they bailed everyone in and nicked their bank deposits.....now the template for future crisis, and have witnessed the devastation the Euro has caused the! Furthermore I'm very well informed as to the structural problems of the Euro, it's banks and the fact that it has no "lender of last resort"

You may not think the Drachma is the answer, but the Euro certainly isn't.

These are very funny and adds some humour to a sad scenario.
