Well following on from Matt's thread back in August there is some love for the TR7/8 wedges on here, although I am sure I will get some stick as well.

As I said at the time I briefly had a TR7 a couple of years ago and have always wanted a genuine TR8.

I wasn't looking seriously but have followed up a few leads (thanks MAF250) and kept an eye on the classifieds and a few weeks ago what would probably be me ideal car came up for sale.

The snag was despite being a genuine RHD TR8 it was located in Copenhagen but after a bit of negotiation a deal was done and Mark and I set off flying from Luton to Copenhagen to pick the car up, we then drove the car back to the Hook of Holland and a ferry back to Harwich. Fair play to the car it didn't miss a beat.

It is No.1 of 18 RHD production TR8 DHC and was originally supplied to the Reliability & Quality Department, Rover, Solihull.

It drives really well, feels very balanced with good steering and a lovely gearbox.

Definitely the car the TR7 should always have been.

A lovely looking unmolested example, Robin. Did it come via the guy I put you in touch with?

Was that a proposed department or a top secret unit? ;)

Congratulations - several of my moriring buddies are currently going a festive shade of green with envy.
Good job you bought it, they can't elf themselves

Well done Robin, looks a minter. Another one of your cars I need to have a go in....when you get that Bora back, I am inviting myself up, is that ok?

Robin, that looks like a scream! Well done.

If you fancy having an SM coffee morning one day then count me in. I'll even bring the coffee.

It would be boring if we all liked the same things!

I like the TR7/8 as both a soft and hard top but think it is one of the few cars that looks better as a soft top.

Strange how different we are, I love the shape of the TR7 Coupe so different in its day and so it is now. Where as the soft top just looks like any other soft top with a pointed nose.

Yep, Ill agree with that. The rake of the rear window and the vented C pillar on the coupe is like no other and I still remember as a boy, sat on my BMX just staring at a chocolate brown one at the bottom of our road:

This is how they could of played safe and done the coupe:

Where as the convertible never really grabbed my attenion :) :
