On Any Sunday from the starting scene of a Newton lookalike on a FS1E to the end scene of Mert Lawwill, Malcolm Smith and Steve McQueen (yes him) riding around in a California sunset, its a 70's masterpiece. The on board photography is stunning especially when you remember that it was shot in 1971. This is complemented by a soundtrack that adds to the sense of danger.
It's also available on YouTube

I must warn you that clicking on the link will waste 88 minutes of your life.

Rocky Horror was Tim Curry's best role.
Although 'It' came a close second. Fank N. Furter was a masterpiece.

Top choice. Rutger is so good in that, love it.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Still brings me up on goosebumps

The Big Lebowski.

"You want a toe? I can get you a toe, believe me. There are ways, Dude. You don't wanna know about it, believe me. I'll get you a toe by 3 O'clock this afternoon--with nail polish. These fxxxing amateurs."

My favourite film too and my favourite part of any film

I was quite disappointed with the recentish sequel. I though the story quite good, but the "world" was no where near as atmospheric. It was so clean and unpopulated. The first film was an amazing realisation of a steam punk future.

Wasn't really Steampunk IMNSHO but possibly an argument too esoteric even for SM :D

The point was that most of the environment was unpopulated in the sequel because they'd all gone to a 'better life in the off world colonies....'

Ahh - cunning. cost reduction by removing the actors/cgi by saying they've all gone to a better place
I agree not really steam punk but was struggling for the right adjective!

I remember hearing a story about a stage version of 'Alibaba and the Forty Thieves' where on stage in the script there's a knock on the door from Alibaba et al. Thing is they didn't have enough actors to play all the thieves, only six so the script went;

KNOCK-KNOCK

Who is it?

It's Alibaba and the forty thieves....

Well come in, and bring six of the thieves with you.....
