As mentioned previously, I was in Yorkshire last week and took some of the advice provided, and visited Blakey Ridge, and in particular the Lion Inn.
As can be seen from the picture, beyond the pub the only other life is limited to the four legged woolly variety. The insane OCD in me was a little bothered by the road surface and associated debris being flung up by the tyres.
We stayed at a new hotel near Ripon - Grantly Hall, and I can certainly recommend. Similar in price to somewhere like Devonshire Arms, parking was decent I got safe spot next to a Bentley.
As I say the OCD is alive and well, and my paranoia about how filthy it got resulted in a full days wash on my return!!

Love driving through Yorkshire, an impromptu visit starting at Whitby to meet @Phil H to the red lion at burnsall, and came across some sort of ruin, had to back up for a pic Great place.

And of course the famous Weather Stone

Me too. I’ve done some miles on the hills in Catterick. Our cft used to start with the big hill going out of catterick. After that it was all x country. Used to make me laugh when infanteers used to go out the back at the start and the LAD all went past them.

Red Rose is everywhere, England Rugby, Plantagenets, only White Rose I can think of is the shopping centre in Leeds which it like a cr4p Trafford Centre.

In fact I think I read at the time Yorky pubs are called White Hart a lot cos us Lancs objected. Used to be White Rose. We renamed then, we renamed them, we renamed them!!

I’ll give you that cos I know **** all about shopping centres....but if that’s your thing...
