My QPV arrived with the carbon trim but I have removed the door section to fix the opening mechanism. The food trim panel is just "pull off" like the Granturismo. Weirdly the carbon is attached to a "structural" alloy frame.

Yeah, it's a bit of a joke really, the carbon parts are overlaid on a metal piece which actually makes it about 3 times the weight of the silver, black, etc, as they are just plastic.

When looking to buy my GTS, it became apparent that finding one with the exact spec I wanted, would have taken a very long time. I decided to concentrate on the big things colour, gearbox, history etc, as the little things could be sorted afterwards. One of which was the colour of the trim.
My preferred option would have been 'Alutex' with carbon a close second. The car I got came with grigio dark chrome.

After seeing the silly prices for genuine replacement trim pieces I decided I'd get them hydrodipped or wrapped instead.

I had a spare day or so over Christmas so decided to have a go at wrapping it myself. I couldn't find any wrap that looked like the factory Alutex, but could find plenty of carbon. I got some 3D carbon wrap from amazon.

Removing the trim pieces is very simple. Best to use a plastic trim tool ( a few quid on ebay or amazon) you just gently prise it off starting at one end and it just unclips. I didn't take pics of the removal but @conaero has some, so hopefully he'll add them here.

Now I have never attempted any wrapping before, so just had a quick look on YouTube and there are plenty of 'how to' guides on there. But basically stick it on, heat it up and stretch it round the curves and bends etc. It is a little fiddly in the corners and stretching it over the large curved piece under the dash clock takes a bit of trial and error, but I managed to do it on my first attempt.

So if you fancy a change, give it a go! Or you could of course pay someone a few quid to do it for you.

For a first attempt I'm very happy, and you really wouldn't know its not real carbon unless you look VERY closely or took off the trim.

You might have been abel to get more gloss by clear coating the wrap. Not sure if that really works, but should add some gloss and protection.

Oh thanks for these @Sam McGoo - exactly what I'm about to do. But paying to have them wrapped etc . How tricky did you find removing the trim parts? I've just ordered the tools from Amazon. Thanks!

Na, it really is quite simple.
Just start at one end and work your tool along, gently pulling, so your levering as close to the clips as you can.

The stereo area is much more involved however.

What wrap are you going for?

Same as yours actually. Originally Chrome... over to a gloss carbon wrap. Match the extended paddles I bought a while ago... :)

That's what I've kind of settled on based on some YT reviews.
Struggling to find a sample before dropping £70 on the minimum width I need though.

I bought some but didn't take any pics after fitting it. It looks very good. Heat gun is very helpful.

I bought one of these on eBay

Being a hopeless romantic, I bought my wife these wing mirror covers as an early birthday present. They’re for her MiTo, but just noticed that they’d probably fit the QP?

If your wrapping skills aren’t up to much, these are pretty good quality and about £70 a pair on eBay from Italy.
