So they were too shite to get out of their qualifying group but they would have got to the semis if they had. Now who’s go the rose tints on?

To be fair we failed to get out of the group stages in Brasil because of Italy!!!

It would be nice if England could be 2 or 3 up or down in the first half, I will enjoy my anniversary dinner more if I think I know the result even if it turns out different.

Bollo*. He looked good 'cos Scottish football is shi*e. I used to pour his pints when he was at Spurs and he was a fat **** then too.

Agreed but this is possibly more a case of how Johnny Foreigner views everything British as English.

The Rangers team of the mid-90s was incredible. Scottish football was not shite back then, you're talking pish.

Andy Goram - one of the best ever
Trevor Steven - superb, British record fee to Marseille
Brian Laudrup - one of the greats, AC Milan, Fiorentina
Paul Gascoigne - niff said
Alexi Mikhailichencko - the best player i've ever seen. lazy b'tard but so talented
Craig Moore - captain of Australia, no nonsense
Ally McCoist - legend, 282 goals, nice geezer too
Richard Gough - legend, Spurs, Rangers and Scotland
Mart Hateley - Ac Milan, Monaco, England legend
Stuart McCall - Scored twice for Everton in FA Cup Final, 763 appearances
Charlie Miller - Super talented, a bit like Gazza, mental
Gordan Petric - Partizan Belgrade, solid,
Michael Mols - Ajaz, Feyenoord, Rangers. Amazing talent.
Ian Durrant - possible the best scottish midfielder of his generation, suffered terrible injury that stifled career

Do you want me to go on? Every one of those players was top drawer. Scottish football is rubbish now but that team in the mid-90s was
special.

With the exception of Laudrup these are not top class. Coisty would've scored anywhere but the rest are decent but nothing special. Gaza was fantastic "at times" wherever he played but I maintain in Scotland he looked better more often because the level is poor.

The best thing that Mrs May could have this week is an English victory in the Final, that would give her a good diversion

I'd imagine if it did happen, the unbearable English media would spawn a strong push for another Scottish Indy Ref and May would be back to business as usual in no time though ;)

Really? You don't know what you're talking about.

Trevor Steven - 36 England caps, 2 word cups, played for Marseilles
Miko - 36 Russia caps, Sampdoria and Dinamo Kiev - now their Sporting Director

I can't be bothered going on. Get your blinkers off. The Celtic of the same era where also a really good side.

And I haven't even started on Van Bronckhorst, Numan, Klos etc etc

Any list that includes Mark Hateley needs to be viewed with derision as the following comment supports

"On 28 June 1984 he was transferred to AC Milan for £1million, despite his inconsistent performances, a series of injuries, and a poor goalscoring rate"

Ally wasn't great at Sunderland. However, Sunderland weren't great.
That Rangers side did have some quality players though.
Totally agree with Athol regarding Durrant. Quality player.

Most of that team were past their best and went there for the money that Murray was throwing about - not the quality of the league.
Playing against very average league opposition every week it's easy to look good.
Domestically, Rangers ruled that period but came up short against proper teams.
