Wishbone ball joint repair?

Has anyone got any further on repairing the ball joints on suspension arms / wishbones?

I have an old rear upper with excessive play in the ball joint that I hope could be repaired as there is nothing else wrong with it.

In S.A they have been injecting these sort of joints with a molten polymer / teflon for years to save replacing expensive parts. Hence removing the excessive play.

In Sydney there is a repairer used by an indie who replaces the ball joints.
I'll be needing to use his services in the future as I have a recent report that I have some slack developing in a lower front ball joint. A complete suspension rebuild is in my future, fitting tie rod ends and FD lowering springs I've already bought.

Cheers Bruce, That's a good service you have there.

Can you explain the repair procedure?

There must be someone in the U.K who can offer the same or I might ship it over!

Nice red GS by the way!

Vic didn't fully explain the procedure and it was around 18 months ago that he told me.
Still I can try and get prices for the work.
He'll hopefully be visiting Canberra this weekend for Auto Italia so I'll ask.
And yes, nice choice of colour and model by yourself too.
Mine started life through JCT600 in Leeds.

I recently replaced a front upper on my 03 spyder with a new one. Not very expensive and a easy swap.

You were 'lucky' there as only the front upper has the cheaply replaceable ball joints, all the others are £500-1000 + vat as you need to change wishbone.

ouch. I'm attempting to sell my spyder before anything more expensive goes wrong. These are very reliable cars, but when something goes wrong that can't be fixed by a home wrencher it can add up in a hurry.

Nope. Just the same as a normal one:

Would it be too risky to try to press the back plate in for 1-2 millimeters?

Just watched the Renbay kit video and I like that.
My old Minis and XJC are riddled with grease nipples and were always part of the owners maintenance schedule.
If the arms have no corrosion issues that has to be the way to go in my opinion.
