Gritters out and the roads are like a beach in Gran Canaria.
:(
As a positive the Pinin has just pasted its MOT for the worse weather to come :thumb3:

Cock. :(

I was wondering as we the hedgehogs’ water bowl was frozen on Tuesday.

You will have the Pirelli haters going Ewan :)
At least you have a vehicle for every occasion which I admire.
Indeed! But partly why I’m such a Pirelli fan is I never get to experience them in freezing weather. Whenever I use them, they are perfect.
For me, it’s time to get back in to the toasty and wafty comfort of the Rangie.
The key to having (and self-justifying) lots of cars is to make sure they are for different job/occasions. Hence I have 2 seat, 3 seat, 4 seat and 5 seat cars, 2 and 4 wheel drive options, fast and slow options, modern and old options, and scruffy and smart options. It’s fun to cover the bases.
I’m currently negotiating (so far unsuccessfully) on yet another QP IV, but am struggling to find a reason for doing so, other than how cool one looked at the start of the new Bond film.

@philw696 There were some equally open mouthed smileys when i had non Porsche and mis matched tyres on the boxster too.... When they wear out, ill change them. Untill then, the dice is rolled.

You’ve got the dictator seat option in the Merc then?

So, my GT has just had the underbody protection done, but although I’m happy to use it over winter I still cannot bring myself to get it out after the gritters have been out. Im guessing therefore it won’t be out for a couple of months so a couple of questions. There seems to be a debate on whether running up to temp once a month is a good idea or not (as it’s always best to drive a car gently after starting to get the oil hotter quicker is my understanding). However if you don’t start at all some say bits dry out cause more damage when you eventually start it. What’s the overall wisdom on this here?

Second question is I’ve put an extra 15psi of air in the tyres to avoid any flat spots. Do we think that’s enough? I can’t be bothered with tyre shapers as I will still let the tyres down and drive the car if the salt on the roads is washed away by enough rain.

It’s on a CTEK on and off to keep the battery tip top btw.

My Stag will happily sit all of the Winter not being touched, done it for the last 35 years.
The Maserati the same the last 10 years also.
Usually forget to over inflate the tyres, never had any flat spots.
Makes me laugh when owners (not necessarily Maserati owners), make a big deal about not being used for only a month!
Both my cars however are in a totally dry underhouse garage that is never cold.

Interesting, separating the theory from reality. My garage gets fairly cold but never freezing (it does have a rad) and is also dehumidified so no condensation. Suspect I will leave it then!

I always pump mine to the max tyre pressure. Normally 50psi I think. Probably makes little difference as it is only sat for 3 or 4 months, but if it saves the risk off flat spots then it's worth doing.
I imagine if you leave it for longer it helps significantly more.

My Strad lives outside on my drive and will get used during the winter if the sun comes out - they like being used ;)

Got a £450 cheque in the post yesterday after SORNing the Vantage last week. It's in at the dealer for a new door (contaminated original = bubbly paint) then a service, MOT, some new PPF on the new paint that by then will have gassed out, then into dry, warm de-humidified winter storage and finally some manifold tweakery and then back to me early March. So whilst it won't do many miles, it'll be kept busy and away from salty roads this winter.
