Ahh yes, but you spotted what's happened here! Well done!

Simply recognised the symptoms - old Picpoul is a definite no-no.
Some Domaines still offer an oaked version (in fact originally they were all oaked) which is much richer. Have tried a few and they're nice but wouldn't be my preference. The vast majority of production is unoaked to accompany seafood. Or something salty - goes very nicely with cured ham.

Ideally, 1yo when it will be fresh and "zingy". Oh no! Does sound like something that that bleédin', bloódy Jilly bloódy effin' bloódy Goolden women would say.

Actually, that's exactly what the flavour should be as talking to Liz we did have two bottles in the summer last year and we both loved it. My memory ain't what it used to be.....

Chablis would have been ok Catman... a Grand Cru would have stood up to your stir fry surely ;)

I didn't want to waste it, in honesty. It's a good one and my stir fries tend to the spicy :)
I have a gruner veltliner which might have worked but, again, tending to the oily spiciness I felt to save that.

Seguret was good. I do love them (mostly)

FFS, 33 pages of yacking about a fruit based drink for the ladies; the sooner this lockdown finishes the better. What next, discussions about dishwashers or the merits of various tea towel fabrics?

Seeing as you mentioned it. Those Cath Kidston tea towels are useless it’s like moving the water round with a flowery oilcloth. Far too much fashion over function. You can’t beat a good check terry cloth one and they’re dual purpose. They can be used as a shepherd’s head dress come the nativity play.

I prefer the irish linen glass cloths.

You’re so right. The cloth on the left is maybe 40 years old. The one on the right is a modern e-cloth. The older one does the job. T’other is snake oil...C06D3E44-CD95-468D-8D26-4DFD7DC3EA62.jpeg
