We all know Maserati ownership automatically makes you a connoisseur as opposed to a show off.
As such I'm sure there are plenty on here that enjoy the odd glass of vino, or twelve?

Where does everyone get their wine from?
I'm a wine society member & also buy from Aldi(!!) for the most part & occasional Majestic wines....

I don't think you can go far wrong with a bottle of Wolfs Blass Cabernet Sauvignon it's between 7 and 10 quid a bottle and is rather nice.
In fact I think I have a bottle with my name on it tonight!

I've bought a few cases from www.nakedwines.co.uk which have always been good. They do tend to bombard you a bit with offers but generally decent wine for an average of £7 or so a bottle.

Agreed I use nakedwines as well and the wine is generally pretty decent. In fact there is case or two sat at home which will probably get opened tonight

Mentioned a place near Calais a while ago. Not exactly the local corner shop but if anyone is planning a trip …. numerous domaines offer shipping.

Maybe of interest to those travelling is a storage facility near Calais. Operating principally to take delivery of, check over and subsequent storage of, wines that you have bought on your journey. From memory they charge €1 per box for three months storage. They are also happy to take delivery of most inventory - including shoes I'd imagine :)

I'm not affiliated with them in any way but they have been most helpful in the past. Their website is:

Shiraz as in what the Australians and South Africans produce is the same as Syrah from France the grape is the same. Real Shiraz is from Persia / Iran has been around for hundreds of years which was more of a sherry style.

Even though modern Shiraz and French Syrah use the same grapes they taste different due to growing in the warmer climate.

CoOp, one bottle a day, 2 if its been a bad one.

Honestly though, I have a thing for Rioja/Temp at the moment. I buy 2 year old rather than 4 as I dont like it 'oaked'

Our local pub has excellent wines and has pointed me to his supplier in Midhurst. I will be visiting.

I will check out the Aldi one, thanks of the heads up as I am paying £9 a bottle at the moment.

Aldi wines are often much better than their price suggests

Not a great wine fan but a good Rioja gets my vote.

As per my links above, Beronia & Muga are the kings of Rioja, IMO (Rascal is right up there as well).

For Beronia.. Keep an eye out for Beronia going on offer & then 30% off your "first shop" (how many emails/credit cards you got?) or similar from Ocado, I managed to buy 24 bottles at around £9 each.

Cheaper Rioja then it has to be six bottles of Baron Rioja from Aldi delivered to your door for £34, yes, really, £34 and its pretty bloody impressive..
