windscreen replace

I am due to have some chips filled on the 4200 but I was also told that they are so small they will likely crack under pressure when repairing.

They re-booked to allow them to bring a replacement screen in case it does break. Do they just re-use your existing mouldings or do they replace these as well?

Anything else to be aware of? Do you need to remove the wiper arms to give better access or is just a case of lifting the bonnet to give more room for the passenger arms like when replacing the blades?

Interesting - when I had to replace the windscreen on my 4200 spyder three or so years ago they were nla - after extensive searching a second hand one was found - nothing new anywhere. And I'm fairly confident the existing mouldings were re-used

Just asking the question again whether there is anything else to be aware of when replacing a windscreen?

I cannot say I had a great deal of confidence in the guy who previously assessed but I suspect that is who will turn up. When I pointed out that unless repaired or replaced it would be an MOT failure, his first response was we are not testers followed by if it does get failed just take it somewhere else. I don't put that down to it being Autoglass, as in any organisation there will be those who go the extra mile and those who you would rather not touch the car.

Do you need to remove the wiper arms to give better access if replacing the screen or is just a case of lifting the bonnet to give more room for the passenger arms to lift like when replacing the blades? Or do you set them in a more upright position to do that?

Have you got a spyder or a coupe - with a spyder they take on a more important role with the stability/rigidity, etc of the car
