Why the obsession with low mileage?

I agree why is this such a conflict. the old term was 10k miles per year was average, below that was good. why is this different for these car and other like them - its mad...

I maintain my car very very well, maybe over the top in some cases but I do also drive the GS as much as I can (for the :D factor) but only when its dry.

I've just got to the point were I'm now looking at the mileage as I'm about 1,000miles off getting to 80k. The GS is only 12year old so I would say its low-average mileage but as its over 50k its seems to be in the class of very high mileage. If you covered the mileage you won't know it was that high.

I'm also having a bit of a conflict:(

When I bought my 42 I had actually put a refundable deposit down on a silver 06 42 on 35k, then I saw the add for mine in AT with 58k and for £2,000 less. I was thinking the mileage was a bit 'Top Heavy' for what I wanted. When I went to view, it was actually in better condition, tighter, firmer and just all round better that the 35k one!!.............So for me it was a no brainer!
I do 3,000 miles max a year so it made no odds as I am not thinking of selling.

I never worry about miles, given a choice and everything else being equal I would normally buy a lower milage version. I never worry about driving any of them, if I need a car I open the drawer and make a choice which is why they are always, taxed, insured and ready to go.
