Think you nailed it Pete....The colours not for everyone and although it looks good on the Coupe it's not as successful on the Spyder for me. Also think the silver wheels with yellow just don't work and would look better if darker.

Can't believe anyone would walk away from a car for the sake of a £200 wheel re paint... I bet the dealer would do it in the price.

Yep would imagine they would and yes doubt anyone would walk away just for the wheels....some may prefer the silver.....Didn't someone go look at it and say it wasn't the best kept example....May be wrong.

Matthew also has a GS in the right colours, which has been on the market since the back end of last year. I assume both cars are sticking because they are about to reach the big five o.

Do like that blue GS he has...and reasonable miles given the age.

I would have thought the clutch wear to be the bigger issue on that one, but it has gone past 50% so looks like the tangs have survived.

It's horrible, that's why. The market for yellow convertible Maseratis is not exactly huge. I know it's well priced and all that but it's certainly an acquired taste.

I can think of a reason, but oil have to be loose with my words and I don't want to filter my feelings... Lol

I don’t agree about the negative remarks regarding the colour, I think it’s lovely.

I do however feel the bottom is about to fall out the luxury sports car market...have we seen the top...I think so.

TBF the GS’s are still undervalued especially if you look at the silly prices some of the other Euro Sorts cars are commanding. Tempted to hunt out one in the upcoming bargain basement sales.

Such great cars.

Maserati's have always been slow sellers and stuck around for ages and ages...even decent ones....Its a very small market ans they still have that stigma of reliability and high running costs with joe public. True or not it's perception and as mate has said the market is pretty **** at the moment and these cars aren't getting any younger. In the age of turbos charging and smaller capacity engines performance car punters are going for younger cars, lighter cars with better MPG Maybe. The market for big V8's is a small one unless you have a shed load of money....

A totally different driving experience but as said, my M140i did 40 mpg yesterday on a 250 mile round trip, but has the same acceleration performance as my 4200, if you after the acceleration 'rush'.

I quite like the exterior colour, not over sure about the yellow detailing on the inside, it does seem well priced. Winter is not the best time to sell convertibles maybe as the weather improves there might be more interest.

It's more complex than that. There's an element that people are generally sheep hence the huge number of German metal around the place. It's also certainly true that the market positioning and model range that Maserati is currently offering is alienating several segments of the buying public. They are seen as expensive and stuffy - very similar to Jaguar of 15 years ago except that Jaguar still had entry level cars (albeit based on Ford products) which kept the badge within reach of many. Good cars sell quickly usually - just ask Dicky. A smaller SUV may help this positioning but the EU perception of diesels has proved to be impacting the Ghibli negatively. There's also the issue of financing packages which Maserati are utterly useless at. Even the lease deals are expensive compared to others. Take a look at what Mangolesti can offer to get you into a Gulia Veloce and compare that to Maserati's offering on the Ghilbi. They are so far out of touch that it's embarrassing. At the high end, it's easy to get 50-60% GFV on a Ferrari which helps keep the monthly cost down but cars like the Granturismo are struggling to get a GFV of 35% which means you pay the same monthly for a 100k California as you do for a 60k Granturismo. All these factors add up to harm brand perception and force people to buy elsewhere.

You can buy a GT with similar mileage for less too. You'd have to prefer the older models to want it.

I've not agreed with those that have been saying the GS will continue to appreciate c.10% p.a. History shows that rising prices have to peak at some stage and then they start falling, usually rapidly once ball starts rolling. Agree with Matt that there are enough indicators to suggest market is on the turn. The GS's appreciation over last few years could easily result in a 30% dump in value for all but collector quality examples over the next 12 months. I don't expect any owners or dealers to agree with me!!

Owners complain about the GTSs rate of depreciation but to my mind it has been little different to other big prestige cars like BMW 6 series and Jag XK. It could be that a GTS similarly priced to a GS depreciates less (say 15%) than the GS over the next year.

This is especially crazy when you consider that its the same underlying finance company for Alfa, Maserati, and Ferrari. They appear to be talking down the second hand prices deliberately. The offer on the Ghibli was pretty much 25% which extremely pessimistic for the mileage they were quoting for.

I would love that GS Spyder, high enough mileage to just buy art a keeper and use it without worrying about the miles. House renovation first though!
