Having just changed the car, we are now checking for insurance quotes to include our son, granted hes 23 on a provisional license, but now wants to drive a car that hes not embarassed to be seen in!

The quotes range from a very reasonable £452.......to..................................

I think the 22k would represent how much it would cost for me.

If they are offering you a deal of 22k they clearly do not want the deal or an MC12 is the courtesy car if yours breaks down.

Happy days Paul.....enjoy the tinkering!

Its a great road...................was through the two tunnels on th A55 in the 4200 last month......almost the highlight of trip......blasting along and dropping down and accelerating hard!!!

Tinkering :as001 (2): no bringing her back to former glory :)
You'd be suprised at the bad workmanship I have found....she's down to mechanical components!
By the way I am sure there are THREE decent tunnels..................... unless you were going that fast you missed one :p

Here are the problems:
Audi - extra premium
1.4 - extra premium
TF - extra premium
SI - extra premium

Now tell them he has passed his test and watch the premium rocket into intergalatic price mode - remember the £22K premium is when he is being supervised by an adult on a PROVISIONAL license

All 3 of my daughters insurance nearly doubled when they passed thier tests on a 1.0l Nissan Micra, 1.0l Mini (classic) and a 1.0l Peugeot 107

Then when we moved house (less than 2 miles)
Masser insurance £25 charge (admin)
Wifes Mini £35 charge (admin)
Daughter 1 (1.4l Astra £25 admin plus £120 pa additional premium)
Daughter 2 (Mini - No charge)
Daughter 3 (Peugeot - astronomical £600 additional premium plus £35 admin charge)
Motorbike - I have forgotton to change! watch this space

Checked for when he has passed his test.....no differences in nearly all the relevant reasonable premiums!!!

Thats interesting - I have all girls and insurance was cheaper than many of my friends and colleagues for boys of a similar age.
Most premiums c£2000 for girls and c£3000 - c£4000 for boys - on a £1000 car! and always an increase after passing test.

In perspective first car was a 1977 Escort Van 1.3, cost £30, insurance third party £105 in 1984

Just insured my 18 year old daughter who passed her test 2 weeks ago, £860 on a Fiat Punto Active Sport 1.2 8v ......very reasonable I thought....it dropped a lot when I added myslef as a "mature" driver.....its actually great fun to drive, 59bhp instead of 400 but hey who cares............

That is very reasonable - I like my daughters classic mini - 49bhp but with Cooper wheels and tyres you never need to slow down for a corner or roundabout - it just grips

And thats for business use.....both myself and Madame Parisien.......just £10 difference for insuring my 4200!!!

Bizarre
