Not trying to be flippant but why is it significant or different to others of the type?

I'm genuinely interested in why it is special.
Feel free to pm me or email me and I’ll send you chapter and verse. Briefly It’s the first of just 94 SDP’s and featured in many mag articles when new in 2004 ad a press car. AML then kept it for 9 months and tried all sorts of upgrades on it, some of which were subsequently adopted for the S model and others on the DB9. It is thus a totally unique development prototype.

I’ve since worked literally 000’s of hours on it to bring it back to how it was when AML sold it and it’s won multiple AMOC and other concours since and been in recent mag articles like Octane/Vantage and JayEmm youTube channel. It’s very well known to AML inc Ian Callum, Ian Minards, Dave Richards and Uli Bez. Sorry, not boasting but you did ask!

Personally I've never been afraid of putting miles on my cars, I bl**dy LOVE driving them! But the Maseratis and the Nissan GTR before them cost a fair bit more to maintain then anything I'd previously owned.
I drive mine as much as I can, and use it for most daily journeys when I'm home. This accounts for around 5-6k miles a year, which considering I work away for over half the year, isn't bad going!
The handy thing, is that amount of miles plays lovely into the service schedule of 12k or 2 years (Although I do an interim annual service myself).
If I was to do many more miles annually, meaning I needed to service it much more frequently, then I may consider not using it for the more mundane journeys to the shops etc...

I think most agree, there is a balance to had between keeping it reliable with regular use and running/maintaining/depreciation costs.

The reason why the Spyder will not see tarmac for a while is the torrential rain and the state of the roads. Several miles before we get to decent A roads. Local landmarks like the Burbage ‘Lake’ on the B3087 have series of thoughtfully placed traffic cones in them to indicate the deeper hidden tyre-ripping cavities!

My brother has put on a full set of gravel rally tyres with reinforced sidewalls onto his Fulvia for this Winter that already got him around the Forest of Dean in recent Snow when many got stuck but mainly due to the condition of the roads.

It’s everywhere Rod, it was bad enough but that freezing spell we had before Christmas made it 100x worse. Hopefully a few claims will go into councils for tyres and wheels and it will spur the councils on to put a bit of tarmac in them before the Spring.

Yep, I find myself constantly monitoring the road/tarmac ahead and that isn’t great as I should be looking straight ahead, not into the tarmac. Recently avoided some major tyre ripping/alloy buckling cavities. Unfortunately SWMBO doesn’t, so she only gets to drive her Smart, or our van!

Your right, they’re everywhere, one in particular on a regular journey is the road between Snailwell and Newmarket’s Fordham Rd, it’s like the Americans from USAF Lakenheath have been using it for bombing practice.
