Does anyone know if pattern lower wishbones are no longer available? The only ones I can see on eurospares are £800 a corner. Are there any other suppliers of these pattern parts? Thanks

They list them separately, under the 'Special Offers' tab on Eurospares. It seems they have run out now but still worth a call to them.

I also need a new wishbone..... just spoke to Eurospares and the pattern part will be back in stock at £395 for the 3rd week of January - Wohoo!

Apparently the Italians have an extended christmas break, hence the delay :)

Does anyone know whether prices for these pattern parts (RH + LH lower wishbones) have been constant at gbp 495 incl VAT over the past 12 - 18 months?

That's a reasonable question as I noticed the upper arms were listed at nearly twice the price as was cited in a recent thread..(@ £1200 a piece !!) and seemed to cite both previous and current pricing...
I think they may have been seriously jacked up but couldnt find the thread to confirm it - if thats why you're asking !!?

:)

Maybe not....
I wondered which of the indicated prices were the Eurospares price. Apparently not those in red...!

I assume you are talking about the front ones? If so then they were a little lower when they first went on sale, £395 as I recall. I don't monitor it regularly but I suspect they have been this price for a while now.

Yes, I meant the front ones. The initial price of 395 was excluding VAT if I remember correctly, which means that the current price of 495 incl VAT is (more or less) comparable.

I also need the front lower now. As I understood, the left and right will physically look different if I go with pattern. Assuming as right is gone, soon the left will be gone, too and maybe its best to replace both? Opinions?

My somewhat limited grasp at this time suggests it depends entirely what you mean when you say “ gone”...
Bushes can be replaced. Cracking, usually starting as a stress crack around the casting seam, is s different story...
Bushes gone - yeah. Quite likely they will be at a similar stage of fatigue and lifespan....not so much the cracking thing,I’d say? :read1:

If it’s the ball joint chances are both sides will be similarly worn I would think. Anybody know if this is a simple DIY job to fit?

Also, would you definitely need to do a wheel alignment after fitting?

If you can, I would replace both, especially as you use your car on the track a lot.

On the face of it, it is quite a simple job. Remove the shock bolt, unbolt the ball joint, take out the two subframe bolts, reassembly is the reverse of removal. In reality The ball joint needs a large splitter as the hub is alloy so you can't use a pickle fork or the like. The subframe bolts might be seized in the bush which would require the cutting of the bolt (one of mine was like this). So it can go south pretty quickly.

Yes, full alignment is needed afterwards.

I had to take the brake duct off to
get to the pivot bolts and their fixings were rusty piles of crud.

Ah! Only 3200s have brake ducts so I missed that step :)

But maybe you can do the rears without having to drop the subframe (you have to on the 4200 / GS). They give with one hand and take away with the other!

I always end up bottling jobs like this for fear of issues arising. I’ve been quoted a couple of hours labour per side which brings the cost up to £1800 for two ball joints and tracking. Ouch!
