When fitting Larini Sport Cats and X pipe are there any other parts one might require?

Whilst in an ideal world I'd go to The Guys at Sportsitalia, I've waited for a month for the Larini Sports Cats to arrive and I'd quite like to get these fitted and unleash the beast. Plus my local chap is a top flight auto electrician who I know will do a great job fitting the extra.....let's call 'em 'parking sensors ', Officer....! Mostly because he fitted them to our Alfa 156 sportwagons ( and they've kept the ol' licence points free etc) But I am slightly concerned that the job might require new gaskets or new lamda sensors. I'd really appreciate the experience of other owners who have fitted ( or had fitted) this combination of shiney bits to their Granturismo. Cause I'd like to drive her over Christmas, not have the Granturismo in dry dock over the holiday.

Removing the cats might mean that one or more of the studs in the manifold flange will snap. They get a bit rusty and have a lot of heat cycles. They then need to be drilled out and either a new stud or a nut a bolt used to replace.

The exhaust clamps on the link pipes (after the x-pipe) can split, needing replacement.

The Lambdas should come out fine.

The lambdas were an issue on my 58 plate. I guess it depends if they have been changed every 4 yrs (I think it is). And as Zep says new clamps are likely.
If no record of lamda change it might be worth getting a set to speed the job up then leave the originals in for when you refit.

i had no real issue, but i did order new gaskets and copper bolts for mounting the cats to the header. Also installed new clamps since these the old ones tend to break. Some good stainless steel 2,5 inch clamps are ideal. But 4 and remove all old stuff. Removing cats is easy, loosen central muffler and detach the exhaust mounts behind the central muffler.

I always try to add new bolts and washers and stuff. It usually equals to spending more on bolts and small materials then actual parts.

Once again, Gentlemen my thanks for your help and advice. It's greatly appreciated and I've decided to stretch my patience and wait to have the sports cats/X pipe fitted by some chaps you've probably heard of, near Southampton....
Gives me the chance to fit all the twiddly bits in the meantime!

Thanks Misha; I have been reassured that " I won't be disappointed with the result!!! " from several people - I'm hoping it's at least epic, and sets off car alarms at 4000+ rpm!
(I once had a MGB roadster with a 2 litre race engine, weber carb and 2" twin exit stainless exhaust which did the same thing- it had a VERY high giggle factor! )

my .....reputation with the neighbours never really recovered after I rather blew our old garden bench to smithereens (what a simply marvellous word that is; not used enough these days!) one New Years eve when everyone else in the village seemed to be letting off fireworks and I had none. I did remember a 'small' charge that had failed to detonate ( due to a circuit fault) but was otherwise viable that I'd stuck in my coat pocket when derigging a pyro job, and forgot all about until I got home. I retrieved it from the safe, laid it on the bench and touched the wires to a battery....bench became matchsticks and my ears rang for days. Of course I was rather drunk, so it seemed like a good idea at the time. All the fireworks paused for a few minutes as the phrase "What the F#&I was that?" echoed around the village ( at least I fondly imagined it did - I couldn't hear a thing! !)

what I'm trying to say is they'll not be surprised. Merry Christmas, one and all!

Remind me not to be anywhere near you when you are drunk.

Note to any trip organisers. Probably best put the captain in his own building away from anyone else.

Happy Boxing days folk. I've had my MC for about 5 months now, only driven it about 700 miles. Sorry I'm still in that mode of treating it with cotton gloves and dry driving only etc...... Anyway that said, I'm thinking of putting Larini sports CATS on it and an X-Pipe. I've done as much homework as one can on the sound, tone etc to ensure I'm not going to trash the GT spirit.. My question is actually about another X-Pipe. I've spoke to a guy Jason from Jaren metal works. He sells on ebay. Seems to have a very nice product at a good bit less ££ than Larini. Other than material spec and position, an X-Pipe is an X-pipe right, but wondered if anyone else has experience with his products? he's done a fair bit also for the 4200 and Quattroporte. Anyone can give some feedback if you have used his products?

Not used his x pipe as I already had an Autoshield version but he did the work on my qp boxes in the videos. You would never know he had been inside them and they came back looking like new. You won't have any worries if you buy from him.

If you a fitting x and cats it will be very loud so you may want to try the cheaper x pipe first.
