When 7 year service package isn't a 7 year service package

First conflict with Ferrari. I bought my Cali T in October 2019. Its a Jan 2015 car and has the 7 year service package. I was sold the car with the balance of this. Imagine my surprise when I was informed that because a few years ago the then owner had sorned the car and had a delayed service.. now I am no eligible for the final service (as it would now fall outside the period).
Seems a very inflexible and annoying situation. Not least as this wasn't what I was sold!

Not sure I’m reading this right.

Are you saying they won’t service the car as part of the plan after 7 years?

Or

They won’t service the car as part of the plan in the 7 year period because it hasn’t been continually taxed?

I think it sounds like the next service due falls outside the 7 years. Which sounds like bollox and they should just service it early ignoring the fact one previous service was late.

Call UK customer services and kick up a stink. They're not too bad to deal with. Better than Maserati.

Sorry to clarify.. I wanted it servicing now so this time next year they can do.its final service on its 7th birthday. They won't do this as its not 12m since the last one. When I enquired if I'd miss out on the final service they said yes I would. I've complained and am awaiting a response from their customer service manager

That is ridiculous - they have been paid for 7 services and should bloody well perform 7 services

This is ridiculous - I would hope that the service manager wouldn’t lose a customer over an idiotic argument around service.
I have been using HR Owen for the past 4 years for one of my cars, and they have always been very good to me, quite concilient and always worked with me when we disagreed on small stuff. I sure hope it is consistent with all Ferrari dealers in this country.

But if the next service isn't due, it isn't due, and if the last service falls outside of 7 years, tough I guess.
It's only the same with BMW service plans, some you win, some you loose all depending on mileage/time.
I bought the 3 year/36k service plan for my M140i.
It was a no brainer because it only cost £299, for any 1 series, whether the 116d or my M140i. The first service alone for the M140i was over £300 and I 'might' get the second in the plan.
If you were a lower mileage user, with service based on age, every 2 years, you wouldn't get the second major service that on the M140i is £650. I was on schedule however for the second service to fall within 36k/3 years.
Unfortunately as I approached 3 years, my mileage was within 36K, but the countdown service indicator had the next service at 37.5K, outside the plan, I should have driven it harder for the service to be due sooner!
However, through a loophole, when my car went in for its end of warranty check, and brake fluid change, because they had it in for 'work' and the car was within 2K of its next service, they could do it early, and the car was 2 weeks within the 3 year cut off.
I was over the moon, over a grands worth of servicing for less than £300!

@P R did you buy your car from HR Owen? What was said to you at the time? Did you buy in the expectation that you would get the remainder of 7 services?

Bought it from JCT in Leeds. Had a conversation with the salesman who was saying with the free services and warranty its effectively no surprise motoring...!

I think you need to contact JCT then and ask whether they will honour the 2 services given the representations made by the salesman. You bought the car based on that representation. Can you show that you would not have bought that car, or bought another car from another dealer if they had told you that the break in servicing meant there would only be 6 services instead of 7 under the plan?

If JCT still will not bend, then involve Ferrari UK.

There was certainly the option of not buying from a main dealer. I did for piece of mind, and with that came a premium. Its with them now I will see what they say.

Im assuming service interval is X miles or 12 months whichever is sooner ?

In which case if you did the required mileage in the 9 months or whatever time is left after they do the next service then they would under the service agreement have to do the 7th service.

Point that out to them in writing during your complaint process as at this point they should not be refusing the final service when they dont know the mileage you will do.

Whats the wording of the service agreement does it say 7 service annual services minimum and X number maximum.

Normally you can book your services in upto 1 month approx before it due with other brands so i would get it in as early as possible for the next service and get the maximum amount of time to argue the case or do the mileage towards the final service.

Really does depend on the exact wording of the service agreement.

Yes thats a way round it. The salesman was particularly proud of the fact that its an unlimited milage scheme.
I'm not planning on doing 12k miles in 8 months though!

Ok so good news. JCT will cover the full cost of the 7th service. Credit where its due they have done well! From what I have read Ferrari are a bit arsey about the terms of the plan so I am happy

They are doing mine a month early this year as that's my last service and they said they have a 1 months grace to bring it in early, it maybe helped that I told them that I'll look for another newer one when the service plan is up.
