Wrong glass, surely? I was told many years ago to only drink champagne/prosecco from a flute or tulip glass.

Champagne saucers are the traditional champagne glass. Supposedly shaped like Marie Antoinette’s boob!

Merano hand blown champagne coupe... oh, I think we found the right glasses!

That just sounds a bit poncey and effected to me.

I found this online, it does a better job of explaining than I can:
'The champagne coupe is often associated with vintage elements from the “olde-worlde” which is commonly used in a quirky feature in fancy restaurants and high-end establishments like luxury hotels. In terms of supporting the elemental flavors of champagne, this vintage champagne glass is quite subpar. When it comes to enabling aromatics and activating carbonation for an easy escape, the coupe glass make the process quite difficult.'

Traditional until 100 years ago, with a brief resurgence in the 60s. The Marie Antoinette myth has apparently been disproved - probably for the best given they're not very big!

Also sounds pretentious ;)

We’ve got both and I find the saucers have two advantages: doesn’t bubble over the top when you pour and when you’ve got a Gonzo type nose like me you can actually drink out of them

You can also do a nice champagne waterfall with the coupe... a traditional celebration in our house ;)
