What you drinking now?

Nothing right now, but planning the weekend. My mother bought this for my father when I was about 11 I guess. Although I didn't end up getting on well with my father, it was always understood that it would come to me.

So when we cleared his flat out, I got it home and found that there was barely one useable decanter left. Stoppers had massive chunks, huge crack in one of the decanters. Very much abused, sadly. And not the kind of thing you can just pick up off the shelf as they are very different sizes from modern ones.

So ticked was I, I very nearly binned it. Not at all sure that I wanted to be reminded of the man he'd become over the years, but for whatever reason, I tucked it in the corner and posted a search on ebay.

Repeatedly nothing that was going to work. Couldn't even find mismatched ones. Then, Friday night things just fell into place. Excellent ebayer, wasn't meant to be here until next week, but delivered today. Beautiful decanters. Razor crisp cutting on the crystal and could have been made for it.
