Talking of Manchester, if anyone needs a new door stop for 63158Christmas, this is the ticket - double present - a great read and a great door stop afterwards. Hookie’s account of the Hacienda debacle is even better - a hoot and a page turner. I think it’s called How not to run a club.

Yeah you’re right. The acoustic version is good too. My mate Justin Lavash plays slide guitarist in the Czech Republic and is friends with Neil Conti, the drummer drafted in for Steve McQueen. He has been quizzing him recently: “I pick Neil’s brains about Paddy McAlloon. What a talent that man had, and so young. You can see it here. Neil said he was never comfortable with his own voice and frontman duties. I can understand that. It all seems so false when you’ve devoted your energies to articulating truth. He also said that Paddy got so much praise so early from people like Elvis Costello and Bowie that it kinda ruined him.”

Just perfect pop songs. What a legacy.

I was watching a show Prefab Sprout were playing in the early 2000s at Fleadh, brilliant. After you mentioned Neil Conti I was reading up on him on Wiki. Top talent
Phil Thornally the guy who mixed When Love Breaks Down lived in Worlington, the next village to me, made a few ££££ co-writing Torn, Natalie Imbruglia.

In this moment with a cover of a Phil Collins in the air tonight.....After seeing this band support a Halestorm in November really got into them. There last LP Ritual is just epic. Listen to this loud as when the drums come in that is one heavy sound.....

Torn was written by Ednaswap, with Thornally, here's the original and best version...

Spent this pm with a DJ friend and his family on the beach. He says there are NO good Christmas songs at all. He’s adamant. Even Fairytale...

Just listened to The Waitresses Christmas Wrapping. He’s wrong?
