What projects to do on the car whilst isolating?

Being sans Maserati with time on my hands I've been stripping out the interior of the Mini I bought a few weeks ago, unearthing thirty years of dust, sweet wrappers and crud, it's quite theraputic in a way...

It looks ok in the photo but is rougher than it looks inside - the dash is faded and the lacquer is peeling off in places so I'll be replacing this with a new one, I was going to have a darker burr walnut one but have seen a piano black one with chrome rims for the gauges which looks much better. The rest of the interior will be all black with bespoke trim panels and carpet from Optimise Automotive (including the headlining) and I'll be covering up all of the painted metal areas visible with black leather or vinyl. The frankly awful Rover front seats will go in favour of a set of these buckets from BB Classics and I'm hoping to get the rear seat recovered to match...

The engine is a recon'd 998 fitted by the previous owner but compared to my '68 Cooper S it's dead slow, so at some point I'll bung a 1275 or 1380 in its place. The car started life as a limited edition Mini 30 but the original engine is long gone, it's already had new doors and a complete new front end so I've got no qualms about modifying it further to make it into my idea of a perfect Mini. Originality is nice, but it's not the be all and end all for me.

Found a few quids worth of Dynamat for sure! The whole back of the car and rear quarter panels all have it.

That’s a very worthwhile effort imo. British roads produce a disappointing amount of road noise somehow . I’ve considered trying this in the boot, and behind the arch liners maybe...?

used to love working on my minis many moons ago, in those days I used to de-seam the rear gutter and have a leather look vinyl roof fitted running down to boot with rear wash wipe, looked the nuts and really transformed the look of the car

Think I might do my driver window, have the new bits, the squeaky binnacle, and finally look at the instrument panel lights, sure at least 50% are out or QV5 instrument panels are just dull...

I have finally decided to fix 2 tail lights that were moving on the F430. The poor design of the lights, leads to the snapping of the anchor points that hold them to the car as a result of the engine vibrations. Ferrari charges £1,000 all in per light, with no guarantee it won’t break again as the design is the same on the replacement.
I bought a 4 lights repair kit on eBay for $100 - that fixes the design issue, supposedly for good.

Quite proud of myself as it is my first DIY on any car - so glad it is on a Ferrari LOL

nice motor and saved yourself a few pennies there and hope it lasts :thumb3: , I'm sure I've mentioned this before but here is a top tip as edd china would say for all you fellas that are trying to repair plastic items on cars, mitre bond is the nuts or indeed anything like this as there are many manufacturers, i can tell you it is permanent and will never fail at the same point again, normally used by trades for upvc fascias, chippies for joining mdf mitres etc, its a 2 pack with activator and far superior to normal superglues and glues that are mixed together like araldite etc

I would love that 155 Andy. Must try and hunt down a 2nd hand one.....Looking at DB9R at the moment though.

2 155s, I try to keep them in pairs to stop children (Sarah & I) arguing about who gets what. I think I need to hunt down some Maseratis as they are missing from the fleet
