Proper clean / seal of the wheels, suspension clean up and clear holes in the brake discs

Recently finished the wheels but now have to fit braided Goodridge lines as per your post:
… the hoses I had made up by Goodridge are exactly the same as original, same length, fittings (now stainless) etc,
Ordered SMS0407-4C through JSM (Nottingham) via eBay with a nice % discount.
So many thanks for sharing the info. Just have to fit them now - bleedin' h*ll

All good fun!

glad the previous post helped, hope you’re rigid pipes are ok as they can be impossible to separate so plan for the worst!

Most definitely a help and thanks for the note about the rigid pipes. Did someone here recently shear some of their fittings? Recall seeing a flaring tool being discussed to make up custom lines. So, yes, will be v.careful with the connections - penetrating fluid/time/heat. Fingers crossed.

Not started on the QP yet but on the wife’s RAV so far. Changed all fluids inc. oil, gearbox, coolant, diff and brakes. Filters inc, air, pollen, gearbox. Changed spark plugs and all 4 shocks. All brake shoes and disks. Rear silencer. Polished waxed and ceramic coated. Best bit, all the parts came in at less than £500. On the QP probably looking at £5k

Did major service including spark plugs and had new cats installed. Painted the small front grilles. Next up is tearing the front grille out and clean and paint everything. As well as an proper interior clean and leather repair where needed.

The only thing that lets it down is the rot in the rear arches (not got any worse) if she runs through through the summer with no issues I might get it sorted later in the year.

I’ve got an E46 Touring and mine has rot in the rear arches too; they all do that Sir! Still, I’ve done lots of jobs on her since the lockdown and she’s starting to look good. I don’t want to go mad as she has just clocked 325,000 and she isn’t worth a lot, but she’s never run better.

One of those rites of passage things this morning. Our youngest helped me bleed the Contessa’s brakes by pumping the pedal, just as his older brother did a couple of years ago. I can remember my Dad getting me to do it about 40 years ago - probably in MGs of various guises.

Nice little trip to the top of the drive and back to test them.

Pininfarina coupe?

Love the interior. Was the floor change an option on those like the Aurelia?

Yes, it’s a ‘59 Pininfarina Coupe. I’m no expert, but I think the four door Berlinas had column changes, whilst the Coupés had four on the floor. I guess they may have built some with column changes, but I’ve never seen one. Both models have gearboxes at the back.

The interior is a delight - the dash is really beautiful and the whole car so well built.

So:
Engine bay detail - tick.
Summer wheels cleaned and sealed - tick.
Wheel arch/hubs cleaned/painted protected - tick.
Full body decontamination/clay - tick.
Full body machine polish - tick.
Full body carnuba wax - tick.
Detail trim bits and bob's- tick.
Rather pleased with the results
Just a shame I can't really drive it anywhere

Jobs left to do:
Touch up stone chips.
Replace front fog lights (one has got a hole in it and cracked) replacement pair from Eurospares arrived today.
Brave twiddling with the driver side headlamp innards as the adaptive thingyness isn't working. Already had the arch liners out once so 7 tenths of the battle with rusty bolts already dealt with. Anyone got any experience of these units on the bench?

Cheers
Ian.

I like the idea of black inside the wheels. My fronts need refurbing inside. Does it look ok on the car? Difficult to tell from pics

They look great Gazcw imho, it's called shadow chrome/silver. Basically black all over with the face of each wheel then blown over with the silver effect. Works well on deep rims and really makes the calipers stand out. I added the red pin lines after as I had a completely sterile surface to work with. Halfords red pinstripe, a hairdryer to warm everything up to keep it sticky and voila. I've done the hubs black as well for that discrete look.

Interesting. I think I might do the same when we can go anywhere. Changing my calipers to yellow too
