What a difference a new clutch makes

Got my car back from Dick Lovetts yesterday after having them fit a new clutch, along with release bearing and F1 sensor.
What a transformation to the whole driving experience!
After my hesitation to have it opened and replace the clutch, because of being mislead when I bought it re clutch wear reading/condition (which I shalt go into now), and being worried that the engagement issue must have been down to something else, it transpires that my clutch had actually done just under 44k miles. As 'motorway' miles, this is understandable.
Now driving it is the pleasure it always should have been, not a matter of gently 'driving around' the slow/slippy change.
And what a pleasure!
Everything else works perfectly and has in the 4 months I've had it, but having everything work perfectly all together makes me realise what a truly fantastic car this is I've bought!
It makes a big difference knowing the engine is connected to the wheels when you want/need it!

After leaving DL's yesterday I went for a bit of a drive. Got home several hours later, should have been 20 minutes. Reversed on the drive. Went back off again :D
I did go and see a friend too who is having DMS out next week to fettle his Gallardo and E63 AMG (he's got a lot of toys!) and he suggested I have mine done. Before I opened my mouth, he was ringing them and getting me a price. Actually works out really cheap 'at the same time', but I recon the 4200/gs has enough, especially the instant way it is delivered. The main improvement I think would be to more rapid gear changes. (Anyone coming to Llandow with a FD module thingy?)

Anyway, I'm loving this car. I know there are 'better cars' in some aspects, but as a package, nothing much compares. Every journey is such an occasion. Even nipping my wife into Bath this afternoon for an emergency dental visit, I had the windows down a bit listening to those Larini's reflecting off the high dry-stone walls with a smile on my face. (She wasn't smiling, but that was nothing to do with the car!)

I'd also like to say how exceptional I find the service at Dick Lovetts. The service manager, Paul Cottrell and his team couldn't be more 'top drawer' professional. Hats off to them.
Whilst I was there I had a sit in the matt black MC Stradale. I think the interior is the most handsome I've seen, and matches the exterior perfectly. JC really is a monumental tw*t

sounds like your having the time of your life now lol!
I know what you mean though.
after driving mine and always worrying about it popping into N or just going 1-2-3-4-6th having it back was a revelation.
Its truly fast and as the garage would have done a major self learn reset its also a great car to drive.
I have the Trofeo gear change TCU and that makes its shifting blindingly fast when setup properly as Emblem have done.
I now face the dilemma of having to sell but not really wanting to lol!

It's your experience that had me extra worried, Adam.

Are you selling the Trofeo gear change TCU with the car....??

Mark, i read your story several times...Man, you seem to enjoy it! I agree, there are better cars, but this has everything.

Fell in love the 1st time i saw a 3200 back in 1998, and i swore i'll have one someday... Luca di Mont. made the best out of the 3200, making the 4200, so here i am... I completely feel what you're feeling, and this has not been reduced..

You can send your gearbox TCU back to the factory and have it exchanged for the Trofeo unit. It makes the gear changes blindingly quick however the downside is that some have reported that it tends to be a little savage for normal use, so if you use your car as a daily driver it may not suit you

Very expensive exercise I hear but Adam will no doubt give you all the details involved.
