Wet foot syndrome

Picked car up yesterday and had a nice drive through the lakes to my cousins in Carlisle. Just as we got there thought I felt a drop on my foot, anyway leaves there and yep I’m getting some drops. Near home on a roundabout a deluge lands on my foot, so carpet out to check the air con drain, none of the carpet or soundproofing around that are wet, and I’m loathe to pull it out, so onto the scuttle, can’t get the bloody windscreen wiper off, doesn’t look to have been off in a while, soaking in wd40 now, other than that I’m goosed, I know it was washed off so hoping it’s the usual leaves etc, I can see some..

It’s condensation from the ac pipes above the pedal box. The pipes should be lagged in a rubber type coating. It degrades over time or gets damaged during servicing and thus the drips. Use to quite like the refreshing foot treatment on hot days when I drove bare foot :)

If the deluge it’s probably blocked AC drain. Scuttle off, pollen filter out, hoover and clean up then remove the drain pipe behind the consul from the drivers side, blow compressed air down the pollen filter, cut the end off the drain pipe and refit making sure it’s not kinked.

Yep. I'm ip to there. Water in pollen filter box. Don't have compressed air I'm afraid. Looking for some jiggly wire now to drain water away.

Compressed air located. Blown thru. Caught half pint of water in glass. That makes about a full pint. Will load some pics later. Now to reassemble.

Some pics. Including my mk1 drip catcher and pokey wire thing. In the end compressed air did the job. Thanks to forum threads was a relatively easy job. Hardest but was windscreen wiper and the 4th screw on carpet up by footrest. In there for 10 minutes in this heat = lots of sweat.

My GS was exactly the same when I first had it, had full specialist history but in my case those services didn’t include doing the pollen filter properly if at all.

Mine had the full house - blocked drain in the drivers footwell, pollen filter full of leaves and detritus and a leaking heater matrix...

It's worth checking the latter anyway the heater matrix is a part the expires over time regardless of milage - in fact it seems to last longer in cars that are used more

Mine was blocked with detritus between the drain tube connector and the pollen filter box..as soon as put compressed air thru, the blockage released and my pint glass filled up quite quick, then did it down over as well and I could feel it under the car, just took it back, air con on full and no issues... The filter actually looked new ish, I think Emblen May have changed it, will have to look thru receipts but I’ll get one anyway..
