Update: Car is still with Meridien. They say the windscreen seal is fine as is the scuttle panel. They removed top of dash initially and re-sealed behind but this didn't solve the issue (there was also evidence of previous sealant). They have now taken the entire dash out to investigate further. They are also talking with Maserati Italy to see if they can assist..

hhhhmmm...hope you get it sorted GH!

Hope so - typically I had started using it as my daily driver and was about to sell the Mitsubishi - however think I'll sell the Mas instead!

Sorry to hear that this is still unresolved GH. Do you know if the windscreen has been replaced at any time? Water is dripping from under the dash? so behind the headlight switch?

yeah costing more than I hoped, again.. windscreen and seal are originals.. water is somehow working its way down back of dash (think he mentioned the bulkhead) resulting in a slow drip right behind the light switch. I'll let you know the exact problem just as soon as they have found it!

GH, I've spent the last ten minutes stood in the street (not cool at midnight) looking at mine as it's doing me head in! :conf1: It has to be windscreen related? Can't think of another way water could get behind the dash (from above)? Water gets in both stationary and whilst driving? That is to say both vertical and horizontal rain?

Another question if I may?.. Mine lives outside and during last winter when it had snow on it, the window seal rubber dis-coloured (went reddish) and it also puckered in both lower corners. Have you any evidence of something similar?

Sounds similar to what I have mate but the water ingress in mine is several inches below the headlamp switch - get it sorted?

Always hard to sort.........water can run to the easiest drip point to gain access......hope its soon sorted!

It might be coming in via the scuttle panel, though the air intake for the blower maybe?

Hi, sorry I haven't responded to recent questions. So... three weeks back the car went to Meridien (Maserati dealership). They did their best but struggled to find the source, they removed the top of the dash and water tested different areas. Then they removed the entire dash and carried on checking, water testing, resealing various etc They used an endoscope and located two areas where the water was coming in; however they couldn't get a clear enough image to confidently suggest a fix.

They suggested that they use a high-res telescopic endoscope; however there was a problem... Ferrari and Maserati share this ONE device and it is used throughout the UK and Ireland. Additionally only a few engineers could use the device. As we were all unwilling to wait for this to arrive in Hampshire they took my car on their transporter to the Maserati head-office where the device was located.

The source of the leak was then found under the driver’s side A-pillar. There was a hole about an inch wide where the sealant had deteriorated / failed. So although the water was coming into the foot well in two different areas it was this hole that was causing the issue.

Maserati were unable to get at the area due to the location and the car is now at Ross Packard (as the wing has to be removed in order for Maserati to guarantee a proper fix, which is what I want). The car will be ready early next week, I just hope that the wing is removed and attached successfully (as they can be troublesome due to the bonding).

As a side note I have also contacted Maserati head-office in order to start the complaint process as I am unhappy that such a problem should exist.

As that said I can't wait to get back behind the wheel - she's worth the effort!

Phew GH....such a long and drawn out process, but at last light at the end of the tunnel.

Due to the nature of the problem, any idea of what all this work is costing, did Maserati UK offer any solace in picking up part of the tab?

When you get her back...do enjoy!

Hi P - luckily Meridien called me when they first had the car and quoted me a price. I am holding them to that price and they have agreed to honour it - transport, plus putting the car back together etc is all included. The only additional cost is the work that Ross will carry out.

Interesting. I will be taking my OSF wheel arch liner off and having a look around. It's clearly the right area as it's the drain holes in front of the driver's A Pillar which are the issue. Guess I will be taking the wing off next if necessary...

Hope your car is okay.

Hi,

Car is now back and waterproof again - although I won't be sure/confident until the next rain storm hits!

Managed to come out of the dealership with a few new issues:

1) The heater now blows cold at 15 degrees, and hot from 16 up. No inbetween!
2) The odometer reset button no longer works - when you press it in you then have to pull it out.

The garage has said they will sort it but it's just a pain.

Anyway, will enjoy for a week first!
